Killed two named characters, basically took out Gong and Sawatari too but so did the Tyler sisters so whatever. I'd say he's definitely up there. Sergey has beaten both Yuya and Yuzu, and had Jack on the ropes too, I'd say the battle beast has been a lot more menacing though, especially since his archetype just kind of looks like the biggest bulls***.

Reminder that Gong misplayed and could have easily turned the tables by summoning shutendoji to nuke backrow instead of the s***ty level 7.

Gladiator Beasts have been a thing in the card game since 2007, and have had their periods of dominance here and there. They were, at one time, the best deck in the game. Yeah, when they were good, they were kind of BS. And Battle Beast played very Aggro, and didn't even use some of the stronger Control cards GBeasts were famous for, at least back when I played the game:

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Darius
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Equeste
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_War_Chariot
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Proving_Ground
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Heraklinos
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Test_Tiger (this one's HUGE)

Heraklinos + War Chariot locks down Spells, Traps, and Trigger Monster Effects. And you can get War Chariot back with Equeste.

Some other cards that are well used in GBeasts:
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Book_of_Moon (F*** this card was annoying in GBeasts)
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Waboku
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Elemental_HERO_Prisma

GBeasts used to be so good that Bestiari (which you need for Gyzarus) was restricted to 1. To get better access to Bestiari (on top of Proving Ground), you combo'd Prisma with Test Tiger. Prisma picks Gyzarus and sends Bestiari to the Graveyard. Test Tiger can then send Prisma back to the deck since its name is now Gladiator Beast Bestiari. You Special Summon Darius from the deck, Darius revives the Bestiari in the Grave, and you Contact Fused Darius and Bestiari into Gyzarus. Gyzarus destroys 2 of your opponent's cards, attacks, you send Gyzarus back, and you Special Summon 2 GBeasts from your deck to do whatever you need to. Yeah, they have quite an array of effects, and they have very easy access to their toolbox. Heck, people also ran Elemental Hero Stratos in this deck so they could search out Prisma, which was generally at 1 because it wasn't as useful outside the combo..

Bestiari's not restricted anymore since GBeasts probably got power creeped. But they were a fairly strong control archetype for quite a while.

GB lasts WAY long. Its a pre-DAD GX era Archetype which lasts all the way into Late 5D era, and iirc they were the only deck that manage to become "the best" after everything else got nerfed(DAD, LS, LS Zombies), something that 5D era Monarch can only hope to do after Blackwing and LS got banlisted

But yeah the staple play is really Bestiari into Gyzarus -> Darius + Laquari + Darius EFF into Heraklenos.

Then you floodgate the hell out of your opponent: War Chariot negates Monster Effect, Heraklenos Negats Spell and Trap on a 1 for 1 trade, and when it is allowed, Royal Opression stops Special Summon

One thing that Elemental Hero Prisma is used for is to send Glads into the graveyard since on an ideal condition your Glads are on the deck, so Darius isn't live. If you are lucky enough to have 2 Glads in the graveyard, you can pull off the Gyzarus into Heraklenos play using Test Tiger Prisma start

The episode had too much choke, between Gongenzaka choking that Synchro, and how Crow killed off Sawatari who iirc had burns when BB is already at 100 LP just to look cool. I mean WTF

As per usual, Konami continues their hatred for Synchros. And on a user of one of the most popular Synchro archetypes to boot. #f***onami.

Why is it a bad thing that they're removing legacy characters who have stolen screen time from the original characters? That's one of the biggest reasons Arc-V went bad.

Was it not also a good thing they retreated on giving Shun's role to Kaito in saving his sister?

I just wish that Konami hated Synchros a little bit more. I've been wanting to learn how to play Synchrons for a long time now, but every time that I try to buy the Extra Deck IRL, it gets made redundant by the release of better Synchros. I'm sometimes tempted to just buy the 2015 version of the Extra Deck and stick to it.

Actually, are there any clever tricks I can play with something like the Wiki to generate a list of all of the Synchro Monsters printed since DUEA? I'd love to go through that.

Regarding gladiator beasts are they still viable in today's game? Ever since they came out I've liked them and always wanted to build a deck out of it.

I think there's some decent builds with Card of Demise, but otherwise I don't think they've got anything that would win a single game in a modern tournament.
