Last time on Dragon Ball Super: Arriving at Mr. Satan's house, Goku finds Buu in a deep slumber. Mr. Satan says that he has tried everything to wake him up, but to no avail. Goku is disappointed that Buu fell asleep despite showing eagerness in participating in the tournament. Mr. Satan is distraught as normally Buu only needs a second of sleep to fully replenish his energy, but at times he falls into a deep sleep and does not awaken for two months. Goku says that they must now find another team member, and Mr. Satan decides to volunteer for the spot, but Goku convinces him not to due to being heavily outclassed. Making contact with Whis via his staff, Goku informs him of Buu being unable to participate. An angry Beerus says that he'll beat Buu until he awakens, but Whis points out his hypocrisy as Beerus tends to sleep for years on end himself. A frustrated Beerus asks if there's anyone else they can recruit on such short notice.

In Universe 11, Casserale successfully recovers the lost cat and returns it to the two children who proceed to thank him. Top appears to meet with his General, and the children are excited to meet him in person. As they make their way back to their base, Top and Casserale discuss the Tournament of Power. Casserale voices his concern over their world being left unattended while they're away. Top advises that there are hero candidate trainees for the Pride Troopers who can help fill in for them in their stead. With Casserale now on board, Top says that the other Universe 11 warriors are ready to convene over on the planet Netfiss.

In Universe 3, their God of Destruction Mosco, Angel Camparri, and the Supreme Kai Ea meet with Nigrissi, Universe 3's greatest modified warrior. Nigrissi introduces, Narirama, a new type of modwarrior upgraded and programmed with the sole purpose of winning the Tournament of Power. After demonstrating Narirama's modifications designed to help him survive in the tournament, Nigrissi confidently states with pride that the other warriors are currently being modified for the tournament as well, reassuring his visitors that Universe 3 will survive damnation.

Back in Universe 7, Krillin and Android 18 arrive at Capsule Corporation with Marron. Krillin asks where Master Roshi is, and Gohan tells him he's off training to overcome his weakness of female seduction. Goten and Trunks meet Krillin, and they take Marron off to go see Bulla. Observing everyone's carefree demeanor, Beerus and Whis realize that Goku is still keeping the universe erasure stipulation under wraps. Piccolo points out that all they're waiting on is Vegeta and Android 17. Krillin offers Tien to spar with him to warm up until everyone arrives, and Krillin finds out that Buu can't participate. Piccolo says they might have to make due with nine combatants, but Shin steps in, informing them that if Zeno says ten warriors, then there must be ten warriors. Beerus tells Gohan to take responsibility as the team leader and secure a replacement participant. Gohan is confident that Goku will wake Buu up and Krillin offers to help him, eager to win the ten million Zeni no matter what. Gohan and Piccolo are confused as to whomever mentioned Zeni being the prize, and they realize that this is all of Goku's doing. While Krillin and Tien demand to know what the real purpose behind the tournament is, the group then senses Vegeta destroying the Hyperbolic Time Chamber once more.

In Universe 6, Cabba demonstrates the Super Saiyan transformation for Caulifla, who is fervently intent on learning how to do it herself. Cabba is perplexed on how to explain it into words, and openly dishes out some insults in order to anger Caulifla. Failing spectacularly, Cabba goes on and tells her about how he focuses all of his energy into his back nowadays in order to trigger a transformation. Caulifla attempts to focus her energy into her back to create a "tingly" sensation, and even manages to attain the Super Saiyan form, but is unable to maintain it for long. Cabba is surprised that she was able to catch on so quickly and Caulifla tries once more, this time properly maintaining the form. Caulifla shows off her newfound power by creating a massive blast of energy accompanied by a concussive shockwave. Caulifla confidently says that she may now be able to beat the likes of Cabba himself, much to Cabba's meek agreement. Cabba instructs Caulifla on how to revert back to normal as the form is much too taxing to stay in for long. He offers to give her his contact information so she might consider entering the tournament, but she dismisses it, stating that she's totally in, also telling Kale, who has been watching the entire time, to show herself. Caulifla introduces Kale as her protégé, and tells her to try on attaining the form of Super Saiyan, despite Kale's lack of self-confidence.

Goku arrives back at Capsule Corp., and his friends are angry at him for his deceit. Krillin and 18 have also decided to withdraw their participation, and Goku tries to ask Bulma to pay them their ten million Zeni, who quickly turns him down. Krillin is disappointed in Goku for not being truthful with them despite their long-standing friendship. Despite this, Beerus threatens Krillin to enter the tournament otherwise he'll destroy him, and Krillin earnestly agrees to re-enter. However, that still leaves 18, who refuses to enter if there's no prize money to be had. With that, Bulma agrees to do a payout to whomever wants it due to their unusual predicament. The group is still short one member, prompting Beerus to admonish the group for limiting themselves to Earth despite the number of planets being available to them, and also criticizes them for destroying the Frieza Force. Upon hearing this, Goku gets an idea, wanting to take in Frieza as their 10th member, much to everyone's shock.

Three mere hours remain until the commencement of the Tournament of Power.

Last time...

And suddenly the Yamcha option sounded like a much better idea.

Screw you, Goku.
I'm sure Goku's character won't get any worse in the final arc of Super.

Sure, Goku could have chosen Yamcha or something else just to fill in the last fighter but they needed to ensure their survival. Can you think of any alternate fighter that is stronger then what Goku selected?

Goten or Trunks. Yeah, so Goku said "they weren't ready," but Gohan was made a fighter earlier than they did.

Hell, Beerus said he didn't care who it was, so may as well bring (one of) Future Trunks into the mix. We got his Zeno, even!

SSJ3 Gotenks is not stronger. And was it, Goku in the anime? In the manga, it was Goku that suggested them early on and Vegeta that objected to this.

"Leave the kids out of it and they're not to know of this!"

"Super Saiyan Rage" does not exist in the manga and so it wouldn't be in Toriyama's notes either. The strongest Future Trunks became was around SSJ3 Goku.

And yet Krillin, Piccolo, and Master Roshi are in the team.

That's a seperate issue. It can be argued anyway that despite what Goku says to them, even he knows that they are just filling in the team (and it would make no difference if he went to the trouble of getting Future Trunks instead, so why bother?)

That's in universe though. They have a narrative reason for being there (even if it's one that fans will not like for some).

Another odd thing is that Beerus went on about how the Frezia force was the ONLY other group in the entire universe that had a worthy fighter, but in the current manga arc we see Jaco has a higher up that's able to get the jump on Goku and Vegeta, who CLEARLY could have been a better pick.

Cannon wise it just means Whis and Beerus suck at paying attention and out side of the story, its clear they really did not care about anything but bringing Freiza back to turn things to a Comic book like set up where nothing ever changes, even if it ruins everybody in the process, sigh.
It was good
