Nice review, Suprak!

I just got into the genre but I must concur, western VN's are a disservice to the genre.

36. Review a game that took you at least fifty hours to beat. Neo: The World Ends with You (NS)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/switch/306703-neo-the-world-ends-with-you/reviews/172697

If you aim to fulfill everything in this game you can easily go over the 50 hour mark- and that is my main gripe with it. It is an awesome game but for what the game offers I feel it gets a little too bloated and repetitive at times. Not every game benefits from endless sidetracking and questing. Had they trimmed it down a bit I might have given it it a full 9. But still, impressive time.

46. Review a game that can't technically be beaten. SimCity 3000 (PC)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/190488-simcity-3000/reviews/172695

These childhood games are the easiest to review, it's gonna suck when I run out. Alas, what I consider the last amazing title in the series before its downhill trend started. Just... don't make your city too perfect. You'll regret it.

2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 50. (40/50)
^ Nice reviews of intriguing games! I was only vaguely aware of another TWEWY so that was an interesting read. I own the first one, purchased during a big DS RPG-buying binge of mine, but have yet to play it. I gotta level with ya -- my hated of Tetsuya Nomura's character designs is something that defies description.

31. Review a game with an animal lead SonSon (Famicom)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/578273-sonson/reviews/172707

You play as the Monkey King of Journey to the West. Kinda-sorta surprised no one reviewed this before me.

More importantly though, that was game #50, so I'm done with the challenge!!! After two successful years I'm leaning towards not participating next year. That said, I will continue to follow this thread and its possible successors, and will post all my new reviews in "Post your new reviews here! Part ___". Hoping to help with the completion project too.

Glad several awesome new reviews have been posted! Seems like the last week all of the submitted reviews stayed in the queue.

6. Review a game released in 2021 - Secret Agent HD

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/324721-secret-agent-hd/reviews/172413

A very expected entry considering my 2020 pick. If some of the text sounds familiar it is because I've already reviewed this game twice, so I cribbed some lines from the previous versions for convenience.

Haha a surprising 2021 review but a good read. Sometimes a just want a simple platformer so this might work!

27. Review a game with a female lead. Scarlet Nexus (PC).
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/289853-scarlet-nexus/reviews/172417

Has two leads with different playthroughs, one is female. Following up my current worst game of 2021 with what is a contender for my best game of 2021. There are parts of the narrative pacing that certainly could have been better, and the side quests are as generic as they come. That's all that really holds this game back from a perfect score for me. I was hooked on the gameplay from the start and it only gets better over time. the cel-shaded graphics are perfect for the art direction they were going for. Even though it gets a bit convoluted, I get really immersed in the bigger story as well as the characters themselves. The music also fits the atmosphere perfectly. If the style or genre was already appealing to you then I highly recommend it.

Love to see another positive review of this. This one has been on my radar for so long but I’m glad the story looks to be as interesting as I was hoping for. I think I’ll actually pick this up this weekend. I have been looking for an S game to play…

18. Review a simulation game. Aero Fighters Assault (N64)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/n64/196549-aero-fighters-assault/reviews/172441

I was originally planning on doing Pilotwings for SNES, but decided to go for something more obscure on a system I haven't covered much yet. It's a fun and enjoyable air combat simulator that gives a lot of control, has surprisingly good AI for both teammates and enemies, and features some high quality tunes. No shame on admitting that I'd spend an hour just listening to the BGM test in the option menu. Unfortunately it is wildly unbalanced in its difficulty, which is its core flaw. Losing the numerous cheesy endings and only having two of the main playable pilots really be viable are more minor compared to how the challenge swings back and forth without subtlety a couple times. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it and think it's a good game.

For my next two reviews, I'll be delving into a genre I have not only never reviewed, but never even played.

4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 27, 28, 33, 34, 35, 39, 40, 42, 44, 45, 47, 48. (23/50)

Hm. This was a lot of fun to read because even though I love the 64, I somehow never heard of this. I…don’t think I’d like it. Never been a fan of these kind of simulators and it doesn’t sound like this would change my
mind. Still a nice review!

10. Review a remake or enhanced port: Breeder Homegrown: Director's Cut
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/vita/284993-breeder-homegrown-directors-cut/reviews/172719
Score: 1.50/10.00

I had no clue this game qualified for an enhanced port when I bought it. I was actually looking for a horror themed game because it is Halloween time which means SPOOKY SCARY game time. But I was curious what the hell this was a director's cut of, because there is no non-director's cut of "Breeder Homegrown" in the GameFAQs database. After some searching, this game originally came out on itchi.io before getting a port that "streamlines dialogue", "fixes some issues" and "some new surprises". Cool.

Anyway, this game is not good at all and it ruined my Halloween and I feel personally attacked. This is what looks like another RPG maker developed horror game where you walk around a very small area, interacting with a very few items, and attempt to be scared by something that looks like a failed NES tech demo. It is boring and poorly written and, most importantly, boring. The big reveal in this game, btw? The evil lurking in your backyard that has been causing all these issues is A GIANT SNAIL OOOOOH SPOOOOOKY. Seriously when they show that on the final screen of the game, I quite literally laughed out loud because of how silly it looked. Probably a bad sign for a game that is technically supposed to be horror focused, I think.

Summary Quote: There are so many great horror games out there if you’re the kind of person that likes getting scared, and even the poor neglected Vita has some great horror games if you know where to look. Unfortunately, the Vita also has plenty of horrendous horror games, the kind of games that are put together in two hours and where the scariest thing that happens is you realizing that you just wasted $5. Breeder Homegrown: Director’s Cut sits pretty firmly in that second pile, wearing a witch mask that is half askew and drunkenly saying “boo” every time you walk past. If making a good horror game is an art, this is essentially what happens when a two-year-old fingerpaints with ketchup and cat vomit.

lol nice review and yes those RPG Maker games are incredibly cursed. They are "scary" -- just not in the way you were hoping for.

The Neo one, really interesting one, I hadn't heard of this nor the DS original, I love how stylized the game looks. As you said, it is quite reminiscent of the PS2 graphics wise, Dreamcast as well imo.

Love the SimCity 3000 one too, and especially that you're reviewing an older entry in the series. I haven't played this one particular, but I used to play games like this quite a bit. Nice timing too, I just recently wrote a review on a city building game, but it will be awhile til its out since the game itself wasn't even on here. That thing about the cities basically dying by doing too well is really weird, it makes me wonder if they did that purposely or if its just something that happens from the simulation side of it.

WOW DUDE, CONGRATS ON COMPLETING IT!!! You completed it in October too, so there wasn't even a December mad dash to try to get the last few entries in, really awesome. If you don't participate next year, do you still think you will be reviewing 50 or more games a year? Or will you scale it back, or try to do even more?

Also nice review, never heard of this game but its always fun reading reviews on these retro titles. Pretty interesting playing style in this one, all those layers.
