A day late but definitely not a dollar short, we're launching the new and improved FAQ Bounty system. You can find it here:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/contribute/faq_bounty

First and foremost, you'll notice that we're offering up a lot more money now. In fact, there are $20,000 worth of bounties listed. We also bumped the remaining four bounties from the old system up to $200 and are still offering them as well.

You'll also see that you can now lock bounties, ensuring that once you start work on a guide, you will be allowed to claim the bounty and not have it sniped by someone else. Do note that you have to apply for the lock and it is at our discretion whether or not we award it to you. Locks can also be lost if the guide isn't updated in a timely manner.

Another improvement is that we now keep all of your documents in a single, secured location, meaning that you only need to submit them to us once and not every single time you claim them. It will also result in a streamlined claim experience, as we will no longer require the initial back and forth with approving your submission then sending and receiving the documents and so on.

We still aren't fully done with the backend, but we can accept and issue locks and you are welcome to begin working on these guides.

If you have any questions at all, or any feedback, please leave it here.

Honestly tempted to pound out something for Ultra Sun now but the only really open timeframe I have for something that massive is spring break, and that's only a week. :|

I found the reward is kind of weird. It's mostly a popularity contest for the largest payout. As a guide for Megaman 11 is worth 500$, which all you need is a boss chart and elemental weakness, versus a full-blown SRPG like Valkryia Chronicles, is only 250$?

Or fighting games like Soul Calibur 6 is worth 500$, when most of it is just copying the move list from within the game. I don't know, I like the new payouts, but it seems to favor heavily on popularity rather than what people need.

Nah, my coursework this semester is hell, in all honesty - whenever I pop out something in terms of contributions it's usually something small or otherwise not time-intensive.

That's what you get for taking 5 math courses in a semester. Nothing like having 20 pages of homework per session per several classes. x.x

Next few semesters look to be much easier though, mostly electives.

tbh I would think a $500 guide would go in a bit more detail than that. For example, notable stage puzzles and how to pass them, how to fight the enemies in stages, and perhaps boss movement patterns and how to counteract them.

That's probably the minimum I'd expect (since those are the things I'd have the most trouble with).

Plus collectibles a la other classic Mega Man games.

It favors popularity because they'll get more views which means more ad money from the faq.

That's not entirely true. RPGs tend to have way more view than say a Triple A action title. Simply because a guide is more required. Just look at Draken70's Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth guide. His guide has more than 6 million views from that guide alone.

Even me writing niche games has gain 16 Million views from just 18 guides total.

It is more about what games required guides versus the ones that don.t. At least imo.

Great job! These rewards should be more than enough incentive to get good guides for those games.

Wow, just look at these bounties. Kingdom Hearts III have the maximum $3,000 . Should I grab PS4 just to play this game when it's launched this year...

In the Bounty page, the link for each game redirects to bounty lock page. At first, I assumed that the link would redirect me to each game's home page, but I was misguided. Maybe the links to the lock page should be separated to another column.

@SBAllen

looks amazing, i love this idea. But what about the bonus bounties? How are those going to be distributed and will we know about them or have to claim them or something?

@Zoel

Megaman is a target i have in sight. But i think its higher then most, because it will generate more viewers or at least we can assume that it will. Also, i don't think gamefaqs is going to accept anything less then good FAQS if they are part of this new system.
