My building is doing repairs on the boiler so they put up a sign last night saying no heat from midnight to 5 pm. No problem, I have blankets, etc. I can work out to warm up. Except, you know, working out gets you sweaty, so I need a shower afterwards. Good ol' tea kettle got me through.

I think I gave up and called in sick last time the hot water was out. (They've been tearing up our sidewalks for the last few months.) (I actually was sick, but on the edge of being able to make myself go to work, and that was the end of it, sponge bath or no.)
Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

That's a totally reasonable response.
