  3. Ugh, my computer is heavy, I don't wanna carry it to an Apple store for repairs.

My fans have been really loud the past week or two. I did a diagnostic and it said the fan motor for the fans that cool the HDD are failing, which means I'd need to haul it in.

Or...they might not even fix it anymore? I bought it in 2011, which I guess is a long time ago (and why it's so heavy). Maybe it's time to buy a new one? I dunno.

Is there an iFixIt tutorial for your computer model? That might be a place to start to see if it's feasible or possible to do it on your own.

It turns out I can't even bring it to an Apple store as it is too old. I'll have to look at alternatives.

Nope. I've just accepted loud fans. I figure it'll eventually just die from that and then maybe I'll get a new computer then or something. It's been almost 8 years now.

Is the fan on the outside of the drive (well obviously but you know what I mean)? Cracking it open and cleaning/lubing it is not the craziest idea for a fan.
Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

It's a little crazy because the whole computer is in one piece, which means doing things like taking the screen off to get behind it. Not as easy as with a separate tower.
