Beginning November 27th and Ending December 29th we will be sending Sega of Japan our message.

To Celebrate the 9th Anniversary of Shenmue's release in Japan, we have started a mass mailing to Sega of Japan. I will be asking all the fans that are able, to participate in this event. This event has already gone international with many countries joining the mailing. The main idea is that all of us that can will be sending in as many Toy Capsules as we can to SoJ (like the ones you buy in the game). This style of mass mailing was used by fans of the Tv show Jericho. They sent bags of peanuts to the network and succeeded in getting their show put back on the air!

Now being that many of us will be mailing over seas the Toy packs can get a little pricey, a pack of 1lb of capsules from California is about $20. So if all you can send is a letter, that will be good also. For those who do not want to be bothered with doing the mailing yourself, I have set up a Paypal donation button on the main page, and I will personally take care of the mailing. It will be your choice if you want empty capsules with "shenmue" notes in them, or ones with actual toys. You can decide how many capsules too, if you want to send 3 little ones you bought real quick from the capsule machines at walmart, Cool! If you want to send a full box you ordered from Ebay, even better. Or if you just want to click the donate button on the front on the myspace page, thats fine too....

The actual date we started the mailing is Nov. 27th (Dreamcast's anniversary) and will continue through Dec. 29th (Shenmue's 9th anniversary). Please include a letter asking for the continuation of the Shenmue series with your toy capsules, and poster printed from the Shenmue Poster Project. If you are only sending a letter, please include a poster with yours as well. Please be polite in you letters as you will be representing the entire Shenmue fan base :) Also, please take pictures of the packages you are sending and email them to

For those who would like to check how much it would cost to mail from their Country/city, Check at your local post office, fedex, or UPS store. Here is Sega of Japan's address:

1-2-12 Haneda
Tokyo 144-8531

You may send an additional pack to Yu Suzuki at the same address:

Yu Suzuki
AM Plus R&D Division
SEGA Corporation
1-2-12 Haneda,
Ohta-ku, Tokyo 144-8531

Please spread the word about this Mass Mailing to other game sites and forums. I will need your help in getting this info to other languages and countries like Japan, Germany, Spain, Brazil, ect...

Thank you,
2nd Opp

Yes, Jericho came back for seven episodes... then was cancelled again. It was still culturally-relevant and not a decade-old franchise. CBS is still a major network, whereas SEGA left the hardware business to focus on safe, inexpensive sequels and movie adaptations. These are major differences and exactly why this campaign won't work.

I'm am sick & tired of people like you "jet soon kai" who always bring us down & make us loose hope. No offense man but most of us have excepted the fact that there is a great chance that there will never be a Shenmue 3, but just leave the hell alone & let us do what we want.

Call us stupid fanboys, call us what you want, but we will not give up on the possibility that there will be a final chapter to our favorite game series.

Oh, I promise you I get to have my opinion as well. Although, I said nothing about giving up hope for Shenmue III--how did you get to that conclusion? In fact, I want the game even more than you do. It's just not going to happen through that cut-and-paste proposal. Does anyone really think a gimmick like that will convince SEGA to finance the next chapter in what Guinness recognizes as the most expensive franchise ever?

Every single Dreamcast owner would have had to purchase two copies of the original Shenmue for its budget to have been recouped. That didn't happen and SEGA is no longer in the business of taking chances.

Yeah, sorry for going off lol, i have the flu & am in a bad mood. But yeah it's a shame that a third chapter will probably never see the light of day, but we can always hope. You in on this years play through?

The sad truth of it is that SEGA has already found their next Shenmue: Yakuza. That series borrows (or completely steals) many ideas and themes from Shenmue, but has been a much, much more profitable franchise. That's why a third installment is already being made, while Shenmue fans wait in the dark.

In the end, it's about making money. If SEGA can make a higher profit by releasing a different-but-similar game, what motivation is there to burn money on a gamble like Shenmue III? Yakuza is SEGA's compromise.

I would like for this to work hell we all would I'm I right?

IDK about Yakuza I've seen used for cheep but idk about it.

Anyway as for this mass Mailing Sega, I first heard about this on G4.

It was on the little feed/news thing at bottom of the screen.

It said...

A group of Shenmue fans have decided to mail Sega Capsule toys in protest of them not canceling Shenmue 3.

So the Shenmue3 cause got on TV, even if its on G4's X-play.

Not sure if it means anything thou, it getting on there an all.

I'm kinda surprised that no one brought it up before me.

Oh yeah and as some has pointed out Sega is all about money cause they are poor!

Very poor as for as game company goes I guess.

I mean the Sega CD, Game Gear, nomad, 32X, the Saturn was killed to soon to anything and the Dreamcast they should came a little later. IMO or did something different idk. The point is aren't they deep in debt?

On ather note....

The Sonic game was awesome minus, the night levels with the werehog or whatever its called.

They got the speed right in this game I might almost call it SA3.

I'm impressed that it got the attention of G4, but this is also the same channel that nominated Shenmue as one of the most overrated games of all time. They try so hard to pander to "teh xtreme gamezorz." As for Yakuza, don't expect the same level of quality. They're good games that create a similar sense of community, but are nowhere what Shenmue accomplished. Worth $20 (or 15.7 Euros for those across the sea), but not much more.

They said Shenmue was over rated.

How could they say that, over hyped maybe and without a doubt underrated.

I never saw they review for Shenmue 1or 2 by them.

Do you know what they give them?
