That looks interesting. Is this an on going project?

Yeah. Not mine, of course, but they could use our help.

I was looking through the unused skills page when several thoughts jumped out at me. Perhaps someone with a better understanding of the game's inner workings can make sense of this. It's been a couple years so my memory's hazy. The listed Regeneration skill may be what fires every turn after the Regeneration Rune has been cast on a character in combat. Meanwhile, the FireySpirit skill may actually be used by the Magma Slimes in Riki's quest. In looking up their skill set they attack using MagmaTouch which may use FireySpirit as a dependent sub-skill which handles the actual LP reduction. Abaxa 23:19, 6 January 2011 (EST)

Well, MagmaTouch isn't the only skill that drains LP (DeathGrip and LifeSteal both do, as well, among others), so I'm not sure on that. As for Regeneration... it could be that, or it could be the effect of certain regenerating enemies. Gelatins, for instance, seem to regenerate HP every turn regardless of whether they're in a light or dark area. Whatever the case, though, the skills are still classified rather oddly, and as such, are worth noting on this page. -YK YK-sig.png 00:06, 7 January 2011 (EST)

Oh, I wasn't saying they shouldn't be listed on the wiki. Sorry for any confusion. I was mostly just curious if anyone knew more details so the page could be fleshed out with more then 'we don't know what this does.'

Later...

I pulled the hex ability data for Death Grip, Magma Touch, Firey Spirit, and Life Steal but it doesn't do much to answer my questions. The only thing I can see based on the data available is that all 4 share the anti-air attribute. All but Firey Spirit are programmed to target 'Single enemy of caster, provided nothing's in the way' while Firey Spirit targets the caster. Without more information on how enemies are programmed to actually use these abilities I can't really say anything definitive. --Abaxa 16:35, 7 January 2011 (EST)

My only guess on FireySpirit is that it's either the effect used to remove an LP when a character is KO'ed, or it's some sort of debug skill used by the programmers to test LP loss. -YK YK-sig.png 17:28, 7 January 2011 (EST)

Maybe, I know nothing about sharking or decoding or what have you but maybe Zarak has answered this in his exploits or can be of more help. If he is still alive.

I looked through the links earlier, and I did notice something. One of the pictures in the unused images section is actually used. I think it's the one of the Tanzer ship with the black background. It's used in Red's scenario, it's the ship that Nomad gets shot down in.

I'm pretty sure I saw the Berva picture when I last played through as Red.

I remembered seeing a painting of Fei-on in the game when I first played it. Never again. I know it exists because I've seen it online sometime after.
There's a fine "li" between "obvious" and "oblivious."

I, too, am pretty sure that the Berva picture gets used in Red's game after you beat him... as for the Fei-On one, it may get used in Riki's game after Tanzer? I've only played to his once, since I didn't really care for it, but that seems like the place it'd happen? Pretty interesting site, all in all.

To the creator(s):

Very nice! Thanks for making this lovely showcase for the hidden material from the game we all love!

I'm the author of the Data/Mechanics Guide and debugger topics here on GameFAQs, so here are some thoughts from my areas of expertise, in the hope that they can be of help. I will try to avoid anything overly technical, since that doesn't seem to be the focus here.

You are, of course, welcome to use this information on the site; just please give credit where appropriate.

Items:

First, be aware that DEFense is not a single quantity. There are 8 Elemental DEFenses: Slash, Pierce, Blunt, Heat, Cold, Electric, Force, and Status FX. For more information, see my Data/Mechanics Guide:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/198537-saga-frontier/faqs/58412
Jump to [EFPRO-2] and scroll down to the section beginning with "EDV = Effective DEFense Value."

JerryArmor: Equipped by the Enemies Unknown and Gelatin, this Torso Armor gives +102 Blunt DEF, +38 Slash and Pierce DEF, and +6 DEF to all other Elements. It also grants Immunity to the following Ailments: Angry, Blind, Charm, Faint, Knockback, Mess, Palsy, Sleep, Stun, and Venom.

SlimyArmor: This Torso Armor gives +32 Blunt DEF, +16 Pierce DEF, and +8 DEF to all other Elements. It is Equipped by many Enemies, primarily to boost their overall Blunt DEF.

SkeleMail: This Torso Armor is Equipped by most Undead Enemies (and several of the later ones Equip multiple copies). It gives +32 Pierce DEF, +16 Slash, Cold, and Electric DEF, and +4 DEF to all other Elements. It also grants Immunity to the following Ailments: Angry, Blind, Charm, Faint, LP Damage, Mess, Palsy, Sleep, and Venom.

WhiteDress: This Suit does give +40 DEF against all Elements, but does not grant Immunity to Blind; rather it grants Immunity to the following Ailments: Angry, Charm, Faint, Mess, Palsy, and Sleep.
I am not aware of any way in which it is actually used in the game. Notably, it is not used when Emelia changes into her wedding dress sprite to fight Diva, as has occasionally been speculated.

FovosGrail: This Accessory is Equipped by the KylinJr PC Monster Form and by the following Enemies: MaskCat, Straysheep, Suzaku, SuzakuJr, Cyclops, Chariot, Giant, Jotnar, Gargoyle, Lamia, Siren, Wormbrood, and by the special UnicornJr and Tidi that accompany MasterRing.
It gives +25 Status FX DEF, +1 DEF to all other Elements, and Immunity to the following Ailments: Angry, Charm, Faint, Mess, Palsy, and Sleep.

V-Special: This Item is secretly Equipped when V-MAX is used and until V-END. It is this Item (and only this Item) which allows the use of StarlightShower and CosmicRave, so it is not functionally identical to V-System. V-System, by contrast, is what allows the use of V-MAX, which in turn Equips V-Special. Yes, you can shortcut the process and prevent V-END by just hacking V-Special on instead of V-System, but be aware that this will also prevent the normal effect of V-MAX, which boosts each Stat from STR--CHA by 50% of its Base Value.
Also note that, while Equipped, V-Special itself boosts Max HP by +100 and STR--CHA by +15, which is in addition to the effect of V-MAX.

DragonCannon: Despite the name, this is not a Weapon at all. Rather, it is an Item Equipped by Thundragon, RedDragon, and BlackDragon Enemies, primarily in order to grant Immunity to the following Ailments: Angry, Blind, Charm, Faint, Mess, Stone, LP Damage, Palsy, Stun, and Venom.

LastRing: This Item is Equipped by many Boss Enemies and simply grants blanket Immunity to all Ailments.
