I've read conflicting information in Absolute Steve's guide on whether or not you can perform the 'encounter skip repeating boss glitch' on the world map-only WEAPONs (Emerald, Ruby, and Ultimate). He says it has to be on a field map, but then later states "I have not yet field-tested whether or not it's possible to fight Emerald and Ruby twice, but presumably it is."

I successfully did the glitch on Lost Number to get 2 Cosmo Memory (holy crap I did not expect the sound to freak out quite that bad... My summons kept casting Fire 2 repeatedly XD ). I'm hoping to figure this out before I get to the relevant battles.

As far as I know, it doesn't work with any of the WEAPON world map battles (Ultimate, Ruby and Emerald).

I remember the first time I triggered this glitch, it was against Gi Nattak (as an accident). I was pretty confused for fighting the boss twice in a row, and only many years later I learned it was a bug thing. I think deep down it is only useful for getting two of All Creation and Cosmo Memory.

The underwater World Map area counts as the World Map, so you will not be able to perform the glitch on Emerald.

It's interesting to note that the battle with Diamond Weapon does not take place on the World Map. Just before the battle engages the screen makes a transition from the WM to the grassy area field map that you see after that battle; the script to initiate the battle with Diamond comes from the field map and is executed before the player has a chance to see the field map load.

Yeah, I read that in a similar topic. One more Rising Sun :D
Also, that you can't do the trick on the Rude fight at Rocket Town because of a fixed encounter beforehand.
So it looks like a comprehensive list for a perfect game, assuming no Extended W-Item trick would be:

Lost Number [Cosmo Memory]
Godo [All Creation] (infinite as long as you lose the 2nd battle)
Schizo [Dragon Fang] (If you aren't doing the normal W-Item trick either)
Carry Armor [God's Hand] D:
Reno 'n' Rude at the Gelnika [Touph Ring + Ziedrich]
Diamond WEAPON [Rising Sun]
Reno, Rude, Elena at Midgar [Touph Ring + Ziedrich + Minerva Band]
Proud Clod [Ragnarok]

Thanks guys!!

So apparently the glitch works on the Huge Materia CMD. Grand Horn. I was able to save at Mt. Nibel by where Materia Keeper was, and trigger the glitch before flying to Fort Condor. I got 2 Imperial Guards :D

Don't know why it's not listed in Absolute Steve's list of repeatable bosses... Now I'm gonna have to test the World Map bosses to double check if we haven't been hearing false information.

EDIT: The Ultimate Weapon fight with the Curse Ring should be on my list too. It is on Steve's.

Ah, perfect. So Rude (Solo) at Rocket Town is possible? I forget the exact situation that you fight him in.

I also tried skipping the fixed encounters before Eagle Gun, but as far as I can tell they have area triggers, and opening your menu just causes the battle to start immediately afterward.

Why is two Rising Sun’s recommended but not two God’s Hand’s?

I have absolutely no idea. My only guess is that the Rising Sun can be thrown and God's Hand cannot, other than that I put it down to an oversight.
