I have a save file at the point where I just got the Highwind. Am I too late to get Aeris back using the Yuffie Warp Glitch?

You need to warp while you still have Aeris so yeah. You need a file after she leaves and a file from before she leaves that you haven't got Yuffie on yet (preferably near Rocket Town) for it to work. It also only works on PC and Steam just so you know.

Ok, so I have a file from before she dies and a file from after she dies. In my first file I'm at Gongaga, so I can go to Rocket Town pretty easily. And in my second file, I have the Highwind, so I can go anywhere. In both files, I do not have Yuffie.

I'm not sure what exact steps to take to proceed now.

I've only done it once but if I remember right you need to die on the post Aeris file somewhere you want to warp to (other than the world map and a few select bosses), then load up the file near Rocket Town and beat Yuffie. Once the fight is over, instead of placing you in the field where you get Yuffie, you'll instead be warped to the location where you died.

Death does a pretty good job of explaining it in the video if you have any problems. You don't have to use the fight he does to do it but that's just one of the earliest points you can get Aeris back.

Firstly, spoiler tags would be appreciated.

Secondly, myself and @songsengnims undertook a project to obtain Aeris via Yuffie Warping while maintaining the ability to PHS her in and out of the menu. I say that we undertook the project, it was mainly song's project that I was helping with.

Unfortunately, he made the mistake of creating about five topics on the subject, so things started to get a little muddled in regards to which topic had which information. I've managed to find the following topics that he made (thie first one should be the one you're after):

That won't exactly work, as you'll need to find a battle that contains some script to edit the $GameMoment variable, otherwise you are not warping anything other than your physical location; you will still be on the file that you warped *from* in terms of timeline (I explained as much in Death's video)

It's been a long time since I looked at this, but I think a good candidate for a boss battle to lose on is Ultimate Weapon in Mideel. Carry Armor may also be another good candidate.

It's been awhile since I've messed around with it myself. Anyone ever make a list of warp points that work?

No, but I started on a list of $GameMoment increments for the purpose of Yuffie Warping:

https://pastebin.com/raw/Ejc8K0rA

As you can see I didn't get very far. There is a lot of dummied out script (from C+Ping) contained within some of the field scripts, especially in the Kalm flashback, so it was difficult to see exactly what was going on.

I should finish this list, as it would help with Yuffie Warping.

So if I have a file A from right before the TOTA and another file B just before the first Ultimate Weapon battle, I can:
1- Load file B, lose to Ultimate Weapon
2- Load file A, beat Yuffie
3- Finish Ultimate Weapon fight

Is that correct?

I understand how the warping glitch works, but I don't understand what affects the ability to PHS her in/out of the party or how the inventory is affected and if I will lost all the items I acquired between file A and file B.

Thank you so much for your work!

You are correct that this would work, but you are also correct that you will lose all of your progression since the TOTA; you will be effectively bringing your pre-TOTA party to disc 2. You will also not be able to PHS Aeris out of your party that way.

I don't have time to look now, but scour the first topic I posted, the method you want is there. You may have to accept the fact that you might have to start back from the TOTA once more.....
