Heck, I wrote a guide for the damn game and can't remember 80% of enemy names on the top of my head... If you give me pictures and names, I'm pretty sure I can match 70 or 80%.

The targeting window in latter instalments was invaluable.

There is a target window, isn't there? If you press Select during battle to bring up the little window shouldn't it also display enemy names when selecting what to attack?

Never used it so I'm unsure.

Select toggles the bar above the party info display during battle. It shows the enemies' name in it, but I rarely use it. And since I play on active, taking the time to learn names can cost me turns. So I tend to ignore them.

No, but the enemies in Final fantasy are just an obstacle. In a Pokemon they are focus of the game. They are enemies and party members at the same time.

Pokemon RB and SMB1 are the only games where I know all the enemy names lol.

Well, I guess I must be the exception on this board. All the work I've done with the game has given me a vast knowledge of the enemy database.

I'm pretty sure someone could name any enemy, and I'd be able to tell you where that enemy is fought, what it looks like, who it looks like, and probably some elemental and status attributes regarding the enemy, as well as notable loot.

Damn, I have no life lol

I also know the spelling of most enemies, such as Jenova-B/L/D/S all have caps for the "BIRTH" part, SOLDIER:3rd is caps, CMD.Grand Horn has no space after the "CMD.", Ceasar is spelt "ea" not "ae", Grangalan Jr.Jr. has no spaces between the JRs, 8 eye has no caps on the "e".

Some of the more tricky names to spell include the Jayjujayme, Gagighandi, Nerosuferoth, Ghirofelgo, Kyuvilduns (weak to Fire), Jemnezmy, Lessaloploth, Epiolnis.

And of course, the Bandersnatch. Whenever I see that enemy now I immediately think of Black Mirror lol
