I've been trying to get this video in modern day quality by rippin git from the PSX cd but the quality seems to be pixeled when put in full screen. I did however find this picture

http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/6/63/Wall_IX_38.jpg

Which is a full screen HD image still from the FMV, im just wondering does anyone know how this picture was captured with such quality. There are some great shots in the FMV which I want to use as desktop wallpaper but I would like them to be the same quality like the above image. If anyone could shed some light I would be greatly appreciative.

Kind regards

That isn't HD at all. HD is normally associated with a wide screen + pixel density.

What makes that screenshot great is probably because it wasn't ripped from the game disc. The FMVs on the disc are compressed to save space. The picture you linked is probably from a magazine or other media which have access to promotional art and screen shots supplied directly by SE. Screenshots from SE are most likely uncompressed.

There might be chance that a certain scene in that FMV was put into an Ultimania or some such guide and some person might have scanned and uploaded it on the net.

Other people might have used different hardware to make their captures for FF9 Fmvs.

The FMV's on the discs are 640x480, so anything larger than that didn't originate from the game. You won't be able to get anything better than that unless you can find screenshots on the web; I'm pretty sure the original uncompressed versions aren't available anywhere.

The cables and capture cards used could have an effect on the picture quality of videos you record. component cables and stuff like that. But generally blowing anything up to a higher resolution will not help with preserving picture quality.

The best thing you could do is set your monitor to the same resolution as the picture. Upscaling like this will make your computer look fugly though

Some of them might not be HD, but I think they all have enough resolution for a wallpaper
Love your enemies... It makes them so damned mad
