Hi,

I haven't been reading this on any site, maybe it was already known, but anyway here it is.

I've done some research with PEC/ePSXe. It appears that the battle values (the 3 numbered values on the card) :

1 : are not set randomly during a battle, the card has a hidden value between the Min and the Max it can have. For example, if on the card, it's written "3P98", the first value "3" will be between 48 and 63 (30 and 3F in hex) during a battle, but this value will always be the same since the game has already registered in the data what it will be

2 : increase after each "arrow battle", but only the number used during a battle will increase, not the others

3 : have not a limit. By that, I mean, it will always increase after a battle, no matter how high is the value. However, the values can be overflowed. If a value set to FF is used during a battle, it will overflow to 00 for the next games.

I don't know if I made it all clear, I don't speak a perfect English :/

And maybe I'm all wrong, just tell me if that's the case :)

You're correct on point 1, but wrong about the other two.

Each and every card in the game has a pre-determined fixed max value for all stats. They won't increase indefinitely until some overflow or anything: they'll just safely remain on the max value.

And these increases do not occur after an arrow battle. Only the type (P/M/X/A) is influenced by the outcome of an arrow battle: the victorious card has a chance of evolving its type.

The attack, P defense, and M defense stats will only increase after the entire card match and only for the player who won. It works as follows:
All 5 cards that were used in the card match you just won, get a 1 point increase. This single point goes to a random stat (the attack, P defense, or M defense). Note that this is a 1 point increase to the true hidden value; not to the number that is shown on the card. This process is entirely random and is not influenced by the card's actions or results during the match. If the bonuspoint happens to go to a stat that has already reached max value, the bonuspoint is simply lost.

There is indeed a Tetra Master FAQ for this, by the way. It isn't perfect, but is does include a few things that it sounds like you may not know.
Pronounced "Whup-pot". Say it. Use it.

genkaku666, are you sure ? I had a doubt for the overflow thing, but I'm pretty sure each battle gives point only to the used values :/

By the way, in this case, are they any min value for each card ?

Also, if they are max values, can please someone give a real list of it ? The author of the FAQ seems to not be sure about the values, so if someone has a full verified list, it'd be my pleasure to read it :)

As far as I know the FAQ has the best max values.

Note that the author is mistaken (or a misleading writer) regarding the X/A cards. The X and A statuses only affect the defense values of a card that they attack. It gives no defensive boost to itself that I'm aware of, so they are no harder to take than anything else.

I'm no expert on this - someone may know better than me.

At quick glance the only one i noticed incorrect was the Gargants max stats. He has it listed as 2P03 when it should be 2(46) P 1(17) 3(56).

When a card is an X type, it will automatically target the lowest of the 2 defense stats.

When a card is an A type, it will automatically target the lowest stat (the attack stat could be targeted as well.)
Additionally, when a card is an A type, it will use its own highest stat as the offensive stat (could be a defense stat as well).

The biggest plus in this IS the fact that a card will never influence its own defensive abilities (as you say, wpot).
This makes a deck of 5 maxed Ribbon cards the best deck possible: a Ribbon has insane defensive stats, the low attack value won't be used for the offense when it's an A type, and should they be flipped over anyway, your other A-type cards will easily get them back as they are allowed to target the low attack stat.

I have an incomplete list of all of the true max values of the cards. Rebirth Flame, you appear to have a complete list. I have been thinking about this for a while: would it be an idea to include that in your card location faq?

Thanks everyone for answering :)

"I have an incomplete list of all of the true max values of the cards." that would be a great beginning if you'd copy it here :)

"Rebirth Flame, you appear to have a complete list. I have been thinking about this for a while: would it be an idea to include that in your card location faq?"

Yes please :D. Also, if you could provide it with the true hidden values and not only what is written, just like what you wrote for the Gargant card :)

By the way Rebirth Flame, I know it's a lot to ask, but would you mind giving me tips about debugging ? I mean, so I can myself look for the game's mechanics and other stuff for other PS1 games, just like you did in your FF9 Battle Mechanics Guide. I don't know much about it, but if you had a tutorial somewhere or at least some leads that would be great :)
