I FINALLY started Spider-Man today and jesus is this game friggin phenomenal. I couldn't put it down. In fact, I had to force myself to stop playing about an hour ago (started around 2PM). I completed all of the thug crimes, collected every backpack, did all of the towers, Kingpin construction sites, and landmarks, and now I'm working on the Harry research centers. Story wise, Norman just shut down Otto's operation and now I have to go after Shocker again.

The only frustrating things I have with it so far is the combat (I just can't figure it out, so I've been dying a lot when I'm surrounded by several goons) and that stupid ass mission where I had to chase after some pigeons. Good god was that friggin annoying as hell.

Oh, I loved Peter's Spider-Cop dialog.

BTW, did anyone else catch the little homage to GTAIV? I had to stop a crime where some dude named Niko tells his henchman to grab Roman and head to the casino.

It is amazing. My favourite game of 2018 alongside god of war.

Pretty much my only complaint about this game is how short the main campaign is and how little side content there is. After 20 hours I had almost 100%ed the game, which was a little disappointing. Other than that, this was a really good and well made game that i got a lot of fun out of.

With combat the best thing to do early on (dunno about late game) is if you're surrounded launch an enemy into the air to give you a breather. Just watch out for goons with guns and avoid gun fire. As you gain more skills you can extend air combos and whilst airborne web enemies into the air so you can potentially defeat several enemies before hitting the ground.
It drops deep as it does in my breath/

Ive only been playing the game for a few days now but 85% of the game is side content.
The only time you have to do anything thats found randomly in the city is when its unlocked by doing it in a story mission (which then opens it up across the map for free roam).

One of my favorite things about this game is the learning curve.

It's highly unlikely that you will master either the swinging or the combat before completing the game.

I have the DLC and am on my second playthrough (where I mostly dilly-dally and avoid objectives/story). I've also put in over a dozen hours replaying challenges just for kicks.

I only just started to feel a real sense of mastery about 6 weeks after purchasing the game. Even so, I know that I could improve and refine in a few different (known) ways. And I could probably also improve in some unbeknownst-to-me ways, too.

Honestly, since I spent 136 hours 100% RDR2, I could use a slightly shorter open world game at this point. However, I've had a lot of games where people said they finished it in 30 hours and then it took me 60 because of how much time I spent just admiring the environment.

Then there's also the DLC which I think I'm going to pick up now.

You'll get the hang of fighting groups of dudes before long. Just always stay on the move, do the slide under dodge even against an enemy that isn't attacking or holding a shield so you can put them between you and other enemies, launch dudes for air combos, switch targets a lot to keep as many enemies staggered as you can, spam some gadgets when you can, etc. You don't need to focus fire on one dude, just bounce around beating dudes up until no one is moving
