No but even if I wanted to, I don’t own a Switch and this is a Japan only thing. So, I’m not gonna care nor lose sleep over something that has no effect on me.

This could be the future one day. Unfortunately. Games will probably be streaming only and you'll have practices like this.

I’m not really too fond of this, I’ll probably be done with playing new games by the time this becomes the norm
I’ll have so much stuff in my backlog that I won’t even care

I wonder how the Japanese gaming community feels about this. Or how well this will do upon release there. Will the people there support this sorry practice?

I mean, this is basically what PS Now is, just for one game. It's not like this kind of practice hasn't been done before.

While I don't really agree with the practice myself, there is an audience for this "game streaming" thing. As evidenced by the amount of people that actually use PS Now.

I guess if you have disposable income and really don't care about owning the games? But if I'm gonna be paying pretty close to full price I will certainly want to own a copy of the game. But yea, you're right, there is an audience for this kind of thing but thats just how I feel about it.

I mean, it's not really in the sense of disposable income. It's kind of like how Netflix started. "I want to watch movies but there's no real reason to buy them if I'm just going to watch them once." It's sort of the same with PS Now, and with this too, in some cases. "I want to play these games, but if I'm going to play them once, there's no need to own them."

Add onto that fact that PS Now also works on stuff like PC and various Smart TVs, meaning you don't even need a console for it, yeah.

That’s so dumb. Like I mean...nearly $20 for a 6 month rental? Resident evil 7 on PS4 is probably close to being $20 to BUY the game, if it isn’t already. I really hope people don’t actually support this dumb practice. If it was $5 I could maybe see the appeal, but $18? No way.

The $20 price tag doesn't really mean much to anyone if they don't already own one of the systems the game is on. There's a lot of people who have brand loyalty, and if they're Nintendo-only gamers, meaning the only current-gen system they have is the Switch, then the $18 price tag is their only option.

That's not to say this is pretty dumb, but it's whatever. I guess you could argue that it's better than no RE7 at all, but eeeeeeeh...
