It is with great pleasure that I reached act 3 a few days ago on a stronger monsters play though, after only making it about halfway through act 1 on the ps4 version last year.

plot question: when the luminary went back in time, did he leave everyone else alone forever, without Veronica revived, in that timeline? Do they go about living their lives without either? Did they cease to exist, being erased from existence since he went back in time? I’m kinda confused about what happened.

edit, plot question 2: why the heck is Michelle back? I mean I’m super happy that she isn’t bubbles anymore like the fairy tale version of the little mermaid, but it seems as though she was lied to and told Kai was still coming, even though I opted to be truthful with her in act 1....? Does this get addressed or is it hand waved?

grinding question: where the heck should I be leveling up because these malicious monsters are no joke lol. I’m at the point where I have to go to the three seedlings but some of the side quests are no joke! My party ranges from lv 57-60. I am trying to rebuild cobblestone but am stuck on the MMA fighters in underground octagonia. Should I be doing the metal slime pep power at this point to get 99? It just seems so hard to do since my pep pops and pips are finite... all help is appreciated :)

thanks!!

Shattering the Time Sphere shattered time back to the moment you awaken in Act 3. There is only 1 timeline.

Throughout Act 3 many people comment on feeling like things have happened before or happened differently; this isn't explicitly explained in-game I believe, but I believe the explanation is that because of how the Tockles/Tower of Lost Time work, even though time was shattered back to a moment in the past some vestiges of memory remain and there was some wonky merging.

There's several quests which grant you Pep Pips, and one that grants you a Pep Pop. Alternatively, it's fairly easy to make Tokens at the Octagonia Casino which you can then turn into Pep Pips. From where you're at, you'd probably need ~4 Pep Pips to get over 70, at which point the Metal King Slime gives you back a Pep Pip. After 70, you also start getting ~6-8 levels each use.
I wouldn't worry about Cobblestone yet; I generally push through story until I have access to Drustan's Trials. As long as you have the best gear +3'd available you shouldn't have any issues finishing the first 3 Trials at ~65, and those 3 zones are where most of the best end-game gear is found (so I guess technically you only need to finish the first 2 bosses...).

Engage the laser beam. It's gonna end your life.

I played the game in Japanese, and the guy and the mermaid in Act 3 act as if they've never met before when you see them together. This makes me think that the mermaid arc was originally intended for Act 2 and got moved to Act 1 without fixing Act 3. An alternative possibility, doesn't the island you find them on have some kind of special properties too? Why multiple ships have crashed there? Maybe the island affected time somehow.

I like to think of it as the Erdrea version of the Bermuda Triangle. When you first crash on the island, your party says it feels super weird there and how it seems time just stopped. Perhaps time does not exist on the island because Michelle didnt originally know 50 years passed and Kai died.

I mean, they hadn't met until about a minute before Michelle died (if you took that route), or ever (if you lied to her). Act 3 has her surviving no matter what, so this is just a new timeline where she was still waiting for Kai and happened to have his grandson get stranded on the island.
