So, I've just got the physical version of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Owltimate Edition for Switch. This is game I've played before and enjoyed it. Anyway... I opened up the box to look at the game card and I noticed something. The game card says Directowl's Cut. Can anyone tell me why it has two different names?

Twisted Dreams has nothing to do with Giana Sisters other than the name. Clearly even the devs know this, which is why they picked a name for the versions at random.

I don't have the game, but I assume the Switch version got a name change prior to release, as the previous release of the game was "Director's Cut". All of the cart labels were probably already applied prior to the name change.

The DS game was super decent. I'm glad I grabbed it when it finally showed up in NA. It was super cheap at launch too

No idea, didn't even notice my copy had two different names until today. Didn't Twisted Dreams start as a kickstarter a few years ago? It's gone through a few titles on different consoles.

Well they made the Giana Sisters have it's own image. And this game has the same composer as the original.

That actually makes sense. Confusing for those opening it though :P

It started off as Project Giana on Kickstarter. Then it became Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. After that I think they started to drop that with something like Owltimate Edition.

I played the original C64 game. :D

The Director's Cut version with Rise of the Owlverlord was released in some regions as the Directowl's Cut, so yet another name used for it isn't surprising.
