it's the 1st party a/c adpater that came in the box. I smelt a burning plastic/rug smell for like 3 to 4 days. I thought it was my roommates space heater. But it turns out it was my A/C Adapter. Thank god it wasn't plugged into my dock because I was using it to charge my phone like a week ago. This is the reason why I didn't suspect that it was the charger since it wasn't pluged into anything.

When I unplugged it, one of the metal pegs had a film around it that was giving that awful burning smell and the apdater was really hot for no reason.

Damn. You make Linetrix seem high-effort.
I can imagine folks who blindly attack Nintendo all day get paid to do so.

Assuming it's a true story, good thing you spotted it.

I don't leave anything charging at home when I go out. I'm paranoid regarding electrical fires after I heard many years ago on the news a story of how a family's entire home was consumed in a fire caused by an air conditioner they left on while they were out.

Likewise, some years ago an old air conditioner in my brother's room was starting a fire, and another person told me recently of a fan that was starting to catch fire in his home.
Check yourselves for Hepatitis C. By the time symptoms show up, it may be too late to prevent permanent damage.

Sigh, another case of Nintendo forgetting what the U in USB stands for. Shocker.
