Player takes control over the young woman Hiyori Mizushima, who is part of a ghost hunting group. She and her group want to investigate a valley called Wasure Yoru, in which it is said to be haunted.

The game feels more open-world than the prequels.

The game is now first person. The game should be more intense and allow creepy effects. For example, that you see a ghost hand trying to grab the player from behind.

The ghosts are much stronger now. This is to force you to hide from them more often than to fight.

In addition to the well-known Camera Obscura, new tools are now available to the player. Like a voice recorder that can record voices of spirits you wouldn't have heard otherwise.

Friendly spirits can also be found. If some of them listen to you, you can unlock side quests.

A Collector's Edition for Japan is planned. In addition to the game, this will include an artbook, poster, steelbook and a model of the Camera Obscura. If this edition will be release outside of Japan is not known at the moment.

The game is really important to Nintendo because it's a way to make the Nintendo Switch more palatable to a more grown-up audience.
