Why does it seem worse then the last collection?

certainly doesn't have the advantage of being portable

No I misread it, the list/games seem on par with the last collection though they don't list Sonic 3 + Knuckles

Well it's just based on trailer and screenshots, so could be some missing. Also the 360/PS3 one had bonus unlockable non Genesis games like Phantasy Star 1 and Shinobi 1.

Meh. We all know Sonic 3 will never be rereleased again, so why bother.
Everything will be fire.

Hopefully they're trolling, and will pull a last minute "Sonic Mania" on us, announcing a Switch version out of nowhere in the coming weeks, or so. If they don't...

Don't get your hopes up

I could understand not getting a physical version for cart costs, but why not at least digital?

Like Sonic Mania, I'm 100% fine with a digital only release. As long as the Switch gets it, I couldn't care less if it's on cartridge or not. More than likely, I'd get it digital anyway.

It's not. It has some of the best Genesis games that were missing from Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on the PS3 / 360 (Alien Soldie, Gunstar Heroes and the Wonder Boy games).

The fact that it is missing Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles is very odd though.

We'll see if this makes my PS3 collection obsolete. Probably not.

Glad it has Virtua Fighter 2 (have a soft spot for that demake), which was missing on Genesis Collection despite being in previous collection.

Also Toejam is on the boxart, so that's another to add to the list.

It's not. Sonic 3 has licensing issues with Ice Cap's music. They'll have to pay Brad Buxer a fortune if they release Sonic 3 ever again, so don't expect to see this game in any Sega collections.

They could release S&K though but it's nothing without S3. And no, they won't change the music.

A Switch version is still possible, as SEGA has yet to make an official announcement, though this seems a bit likely given the May release.

I took a look at the box art over on SEGA Nerds and I'm confident that you can add Revenge of Shinobi and Toe Jam & Earl to the list of games in TC's original post.

Meh. We all know Sonic 3 will never be rereleased again, so why bother.

They re-released it multiple times in it's original form on different compilations since it's original release in 1994, on multiple platforms.

This includes Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection from 2009. They also released the game "as intended" on Steam, combining Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles into one sole game, without the need for the Lock-on feature.

I think they can release the original Sonic 3 Rom on it's own without changing anything. My guess is, they just can't remake the game (altering the game's original code), or include certain zone's in new games without replacing the original music (see Sonic Mania with no Carnival Night, Ice Cap, or Launch Base).
