Because I don't think the Switch will be a portable PS4 that's 1/4 of the size and $100 cheaper. All of the compiled speculation adds up to something too good to be true, especially given our knowledge of Nintendo hardware philosophy.

Hello, did you know the Maxwell rumor actually claims the Switch is stronger than any of the speculation based on Pascal leaks?

It claims 1 TFLOP, all speculation based on Pascal leaks claimed a max of 750 GFLOPs... See the difference there? This actually places the Switch close to the xb0ne...

When it comes to specs, the rumors have all been true. When the Neo's specs leaked almost a year ago, it became true in September. Why would the rumors be false so close to the release date? All the rumors say it's going to be $250. I hope you're right, and maybe Nintendo pulls a rabbit out of its hat.

Did you know there were already leaks from sources that have actual information(Nate Drake on neogaf and the Foxconn leak that claimed USB C would happen) that all claimed Pascal?

Why did you chose to believe the one from a guy who has repeatedly changed the story to follow what neogaf says is possible? Oh wait because it's negative and you are full of s***.

So in dock mode, if we get 384 cores (we don't need 512 cores) at clocked at 1.8-2 ghz, that's plenty to outclass the xbone, and maybe even keep up or outclass the PS4 in real world performance if developers took advantage of mixed precision and offloaded some gpgpu and asynch.

There is no f***ing way they could hit those clocks, even when docked. Not with the tiny heatsink the system must have.

This thing will be sub 1GHz, even if it's on Pascal.

It doesn't have a disc drive so you know it sucks.

LMAO! If anything, Cartridges/Gamecards are far superior to optical media (being discs), it's not even funny.

Discs are already becoming outdated within consoles now. The PS4 & Xbox One aren't even running games from the discs; The games from those consoles have to be installed onto HDD's in order to avoid s*** like longer loading times because the Blu-Ray drives inside of them are far too slow to run & load s*** such as high assets of textures & graphics within games.

"Underpowered" is such a broad term.

Fanboys told me that the PS4/XB1 were underpowered on launch, so going by the same metric, Switch will be too.

Because it sounds like bad news. Sounds like being key here.

It's rather ironic.

Because since the Wii / DS gen, which started about 10 years ago, Nintendo has gone the cheap and underpowered route compared to the competition. It would make more sense to expect that from them than to expect something different, especially, when the higher ups are still the same.

and they have younger staff working on the console this time around. I dont see the connection between what they did the past 10 years and what these new people are doing.

Their youngest teams are 40-50 years old. Nintendo execs are so old that anyone who hasn't died yet is "young".

First of all the regular clock speed of the OEM chip is 1.5ghz. That's how they got any performance boost from the chip, by clocking it at higher speeds. If they clocked it at 1ghz, it would have the exact same performance as maxwell x1, but less powerdraw. At 1.5ghz, they get same power draw but more performance. Their desktop cards clocked between 1.4-2 ghz. The reason they could clock it so high is because of the 16nm ff process.
