Japanese people don't buy console games as much anymore. They're too busy sucking the teat of mobile gatcha games. For games like OG to survive they need to sell them outside of japan.

Tell that to Splatoon's 1.4 million copies. And, yes, the Wii U still sucks in Japan compared to the Vita, let alone the PS4.

They do have a strong handheld market, but losing half it's sales potential in 4 years? That's freaky.
Operation Latex Turtle is a go.

Let's count the english version later, most people outside japan would choose playing english version.

The trick is that Media Create doesn't count non-Japanese releases.

Profit is profit
Just like How FF game count all of it's worldwide sales and not just japan sales.
Specially since they are the one who publishing their games

Just putting things in a little perspective.

MK3 sold 40k on PS3 and 20k on Vita for first week, totaling 60k.
MKF sold 30k on PS3 for first week.

It is believed the weak sales of MK3 led to them cutting out the Vita version of MKF as well as potential contents. Winkysoft went belly up after.

This also, I'm interested in the comparison of sales between first week sales of MD and OGS2. Since we all know that OG games sell less than normal titled SRW games. A comparison back to Z3 is a bit redundant since there are players out there that are there for the anime crossovers and not the original characters.

That said I'm expecting a decline in sales since that's been happening across the board with SRW titles. Also with the english version, there's a portion of sales gone from the japanese market for people who are holding out for that version.

Also another interesting question would be what's the main cause for the decline? Is it the popular theory that it's because each new game comes out with less content than before? *such as missing mecha forms that become attacks or missing playable characters becoming attacks* Are they over-saturating the market with titles that more casual fans don't care anymore? Is it because there's been a lack of quality in the mecha genre for a while now with stand out titles being few and far between? Or is it due to the overall state of finance in the world where people are choosing more carefully what to dump money on? These are the sort of questions I'd like to see answered to some extent.

Completely disregard this. Just reread the first post and noticed the comparison there. It'll be interesting to see how much of the market was in areas outside of japan for this game. Not expecting OGS2 numbers but hopefully it can pick up another 50k-80k from the outside market. These kinds of numbers could also change some of the future games if there is a significant number of players outside of japan. We may see more titles make it into SRW that are more popular outside of japan as a potential result. Still information like this fascinates me to no end just from speculation for what it means for SRW's future.

Here's the sale data for most releases. Though I think it's only week 1.
