Most likely they haven't even played the game yet, and it's the first review of most of them. I'm not saying everyone has to like the game, but of course a 0/10 it's not a fair review. I would understand a 3, 4, 5, but not a 0.

My question is, why are so many people doing that? What's not to like about Kojima? I mean, you can hate the game, but wanting it so much to fail? Did I miss anything? There are some games that I think should be bought because of what they represent for the industry, even if the game itself is not that good. From the top of my head, there are two developers who meet this criteria: CD Projekt Red and the current Kojima Productions.

Why would you give Death Stranding a 0? Do you think developers shouldn't take risks? Shouldn't pursue art? Of course the result will not always be good, but what do you prefer? A game that costs $100 on release and then adds tons of grind to sell you convenient solutions as microtransactions? Because that's where the industry is going. Projects like this should be supported. Well, that's my opinion at least.

Stop with the victim complex, every game has bad reviews on launch. Both Astral Chain and Devil May Cry 5 also had bad reviews and they were released in 2019.
Not changing this signature until Atlus announce a P3/P4 HD Collection for PS4

Bad is one thing, 0 is another. And yes, I don't think any game should get a 0 review. Of course Astral Chain and DMC5 don't deserve 0s, they are both good games. You can hate them but that doesn't mean they should get a 0. I doubt they had so much 0's, though. That's were my question was going. Why? Maybe someone has an idea.

The most perfect, amazing game in the world could be released and it would still get trashed. Because there's this general idea now that's wrong or weak to enjoy anything. All music, all movies, all games are garbage, and you have to state this every chance you get. Now to me that sounds like a pretty miserable way to live, but to each their own. The problem is that if someone else enjoys something, they take it personally. Example: I happen to love Kingdom Come: Deliverance. And I freely admit it had a lot of bugs but most of them have been sorted out. Overall I thought it was a fantastic game. But everyone feels the need to immediately tell me how wrong I am and how terrible it was. Society has become so self-centered that if someone has a different opinion than you do, they're doing it on purpose just to spite you.

I blame this entirely on heavily monetized AAA games becoming the norm. You can either pony up some cash, or deal with the grind these days. "Proper pacing" lies somewhere in the middle, but people have been accustomed to either being able to pay their way through grind or actually sit out the padded bulls*** to arrive at the same point.

That means you're cultivating two types of gamers: people who want instant gratification (even if they have to pay for it) and people who don't care much about the quality of what they play as long as it's cheap entertainment. I find it totally unsurprising people bash this game because it is intended for neither of these demographs.

I'm 100% with you that games should attempt to be art, but I also think cheap entertainment has it's place in this industry. The MGS series had one saving grace: even without all it's Kojima-isms it was still a competent stealth game with zany characters. Even if you didn't see modern art in MGS, you could engage with it like any other classic game and call it "cluncky but fun" and give it a 7.

Death Stranding seems to be faaar more polarizing. There's no publisher keeping Kojima from going overboard this time, to guarantee that what he produces is a "classic" game. So he has full creative freedom to make something that people will love, hate, or disregard. Proper art invokes emotion. I would say he's already succeeded by a small margin. Can't wait to see for myself in a few hours.
Kept you waiting, huh?

This level of review bombing is odd, though.
Zero shouldn't even be an option, that score is built for trolls. No one here can name a game that legitimately deserves a zero. Go ahead and try.
