I was trying to build a 100% evade/provoke kryla (more on her later), and I realised that not only she make it, but also a hell of a lot of others can! The most dead set requirement is to be able to equip either clothes or L shield innately, but some innate dodge may be required depending

the key equipment (that can’t be obtained currently) is as follows:

Evasion
  • Dodge Roll - Kingdom Hearts event (a few months ago)
  • True Spirit of Freedom - FFXIV event (a while ago)
  • Kiyomori (ideally) - FFT event (a while ago)

Draw Attacks
  • Moogle Charm - FFXV Altissa event (last month)
  • K Producer’s Jacket - 2nd Anniversary (I think?)

Otherwise, you need at least one Ring of the Lucii/Colourful Lei/Protec Grappler V3/Therion’s Scarf, and the odd easily attainable tmr or item you can pick up from the world

ALL these builds use the same items for draw attacks, because it is by far the most efficient. This is also the reason than being able to equip clothes or L shield is pretty much required: losing 2 ability slots for the equip X abilities is hard to come back from -

L Shield: Moogle Plushie - 30%
Clothes: K Producer’s Jacket - 20%
Accessory 1: Moogle Charm - 50%

Total draw - 100%

For evasion, what we have left is:

Weapon: Kiyomori - 10% or if no katana Dragon’s Destiny (best) or any other 5% weapon of which there have been tons
Head: Griffin Helm/Wolf Mask etc. - 5%
Accessory 2: RotL etc as mentioned above - 25%
Ability 1: Dodge Roll - 20%
Ability 2: True Spirit of Freedom - 15%
Ability 3/4: Ideally Transcendant Soul, but any 10% is fine
Esper: Tetra Sylpheed - 5%

total (ideal) - 100%
total (no katana) - 95%

that means if a unit can’t equip katana, clothes, and L Shield innately you need at least 5% innate evasion REMEMBERING THAT THIS ALLOWS NO SLOT FOR TMR. On the other hand that means that nearly every unit with some innate evasion can manage this. If you have an evasion STMR (Kaito, Locke, MM Xon) then this widens to any unit, as you are gaining 20-25% evade from that.

Attackers are basically pointless to build like this, you lose too much equip atk/mag to make it worthwhile, but supports/healers/breakers are fair game!

As far as I can see there are 2 outstanding candidates for this: Kryla and Sylvie

First the unit I was going for originally: Kryla, no stmr version.

Kryla 7★
Right hand: Midnight Star HP+70%, ATK+15, DEF+10%, SPR+95, SPR+20% (IW :HP +40%, SPR +10%, HP +10%)
Left hand: Moogle Plushie DEF+25, SPR+25
Head: Wolf Mask HP+80, ATK+14, DEF+3
Body: K Producer's Jacket DEF+7, SPR+3
Accessory 1: Moogle Charm (FFXV) DEF+33, SPR+28
Accessory 2: Ring of the Lucii ATK+30%, MAG+3, MAG+30%, SPR+3
Materia 1: Magic Sanctuary SPR+15%
Materia 2: Equip L Shield
Materia 3: Dodge Roll HP+30%, MP+30%
Materia 4: True Spirit of Freedom ATK+20%
Esper: Tetra Sylphid HP+59, MP+68, ATK+43, DEF+40, MAG+83, SPR+51
Total: HP:16352, MP:756, ATK:384, DEF:507, MAG:370, SPR:867

Here I’ve opted to use tetra sylph to get the last 5% because Midnight Star is broken, but you can use a weapon for the evade for elemental flexibility, though she already gets 65% to all elements anyway so even earth resist stays at 15% here. She also resists all the nasty stats!

Here’s what I plan to use, which is a showcase of how dirty she can be with a nice 30% evade STMR:

Kryla 7★
Right hand: Serapia's Staff HP+30%, MP+35%, ATK+12, SPR+166, SPR+35% (IW :SPR/MP +20%, HP +15%, SPR +15%)
Left hand: Moogle Plushie DEF+25, SPR+25
Head: Yuraisha's Hairpin HP+30%, DEF+34, SPR+95
Body: K Producer's Jacket DEF+7, SPR+3
Accessory 1: Moogle Charm (FFXV) DEF+33, SPR+28
Accessory 2: Ring of the Lucii ATK+30%, MAG+3, MAG+30%, SPR+3
Materia 1: Magic Sanctuary SPR+15%
Materia 2: Equip L Shield
Materia 3: Dodge Roll HP+30%, MP+30%
Materia 4: Sea Dragon ATK+50%
Esper: Lakshmi HP+77, MP+66, ATK+41, DEF+46, MAG+44, SPR+72
Total: HP:15767, MP:869, ATK:427, DEF:522, MAG:331, SPR:1092

Now we are back with 65% all resist, and 95% to water and wind, whilst maintaining the same status immunity! It’s worth noting that this doesn’t have the right Lakshmi (no 20% hp or 10% def/spr I think) AND there are no door pots (though neither were there on the other build)!

Now Sylvie

Sylvie 7★
Right hand: Midnight Star HP+70%, ATK+15, DEF+10%, SPR+95, SPR+20% (IW :HP +40%, HP +10%, SPR +10%)
Left hand: Moogle Plushie DEF+25, SPR+25
Head: Hairpin of Purity DEF+10, MAG+24, SPR+51
Body: K Producer's Jacket DEF+7, SPR+3
Accessory 1: Ring of the Lucii ATK+30%, MAG+3, MAG+30%, SPR+3
Accessory 2: Moogle Charm (FFXV) DEF+33, SPR+28
Materia 1: Dodge Roll HP+30%, MP+30%
Materia 2: True Spirit of Freedom ATK+20%
Materia 3: Transcendent Soul SPR+25%
Materia 4: Transcendent Soul SPR+25%
Esper: Lakshmi HP+77, MP+66, ATK+41, DEF+46, MAG+44, SPR+72
Total: HP:13847, MP:768, ATK:269, DEF:510, MAG:323, SPR:842

Not quite as chunky as Kryla, but still not bad! Her status immunities aren’t great so hairpin of purity gets in, but sadly there is no space for her TMR

Now STMRs:

Sylvie 7★
Right hand: Crimson Butterfly HP+15%, ATK+165, SPR+15% (IW :+150% LB fill rate, HP +15%, SPR +15%)
Left hand: Moogle Plushie DEF+25, SPR+25
Head: Hairpin of Purity DEF+10, MAG+24, SPR+51
Body: K Producer's Jacket DEF+7, SPR+3
Accessory 1: Twin Bunny Clips HP+10%, MP+10%, DEF+35, SPR+35
Accessory 2: Moogle Charm (FFXV) DEF+33, SPR+28
Materia 1: Dodge Roll HP+30%, MP+30%
Materia 2: True Spirit of Freedom ATK+20%
Materia 3: Transcendent Soul SPR+25%
Materia 4: Unquestionable Loyalty HP+50%, SPR+30%
Esper: Tetra Sylphid HP+59, MP+68, ATK+43, DEF+40, MAG+83, SPR+51
Total: HP:15614, MP:945, ATK:378, DEF:516, MAG:301, SPR:758

The best I could do, given her own STMR is off the table, is to get her TMR in to give a minimum of 35% to all resistances with slightly improved stats. Still no Kryla, but if you want Sylvie’s kit instead, or don’t need a breaker this is surely a great choice. Sadly I can’t replicate this with my 0 MM Xon (and 0 ALocke for that matter)

Anyone have any other ideal candidates for a 100% evade/provoking?

tl;dr

Just kidding, good read, especially for newbies/ lesser experienced players.

I never had to bother too much with these builds because I had other options (my army of Kaitos says hi) but those two are good examples.

I would throw Doc Aiden into the mix as well by the way.

I hate that I missed the producers jacket, (and true spirit of freedom, but that doesn't sting as much) although I still managed to get Kryla to 100% provoke/evade thanks to STMRs

But to think I could have replaced those two jewels of strength for more ele resistance (ang get her to 110% in each)...

I first geared such a unit in enhanced Zarg—with 40% innate evade you could make him a death-immune provoke evade tank. It’s hard to give him full elemental resistance as well, though.

Pretty much... I used provoke/evade Kryla for Kefka a while back but yea vets have the equipment.. It's just whether or not they want to use the strat really

Throw Dr Aiden in that bunch as well but there are many options for this

I was just contemplating using an uoc to get my second Aiden

Newbies will be missing all the important limited time pieces.

I've said it back when I still played:
Limited time equipment (especially if it's unique) is such a dumb idea.
