No game should have quests, this includes witcher 3 as well. Wasted resources.

ttle of the real story is being covered we are only going to get maybe six to eight boss's depending on how many new boss's they add for the end of this? Its not a few generic sidequests...seems like at least half of this" remake" will be filler sidequests...the desperate denial is just pitiful .

Also seeing people legit say the Tales of Sidequests were more stale then the Final Fantasy side quests as of late are nearly all hunts are trolls are in mad denial.

Absolutely hilarious. You call other people trolls for disagreeing with you and yet you claim with no real evidence that this game has only 6 bosses even though the leaks have already shown that there quite a lot more... I am not really sure who the troll here is....

Just going to say, I don't know why some people dislike the notion of most (or all) side quests being combat-centric when the combat is meant to be the meat and potatoes of games like these. Personally, I prefer the hunts in XII, XIII, and XV over many older FF games' side quests for this very reason.

I actually enjoy hunts if the combat system of the game is really good and there is a good variety of enemies. However the kind of fetch quest I really cannot stand is the one where you have to search for certain items and then give them to an NPC. You know, like that frog sidequest in FFXV.

I'm guessing a lot of people havent looked at the leaks, yet also wont be buying the game and feel qualified to give reviews on the content based on two screenshots?

It's actually quite a mixed bag of stuff to do and the structure is looking well done. Like it seems like a method that works for a game that is set in one very large location. Whether you like the story or characters, that's on you. Good and bad are subjective in fiction, no one can tell you what is good or bad, only what they THINK is good or bad. Speculation is one thing but we have actual FACTS.

  • The game has quite a lot of chapters. I wont say how many because people can be so weird about what they think is a spoiler but suffice to say its more chapters than FFXV had.
  • There are quests with second tier characters (Like Johnny) that are done in a more intimate style, much like Dragon Age did. This has effectively replaced a few lines of dialogue the original had and gives the player even more of a connection with characters that will or may reappear in future parts. These quests are a typical set up, activity, resolution type whilst engaging in dialogue. There's quite a few named NPCs to interact with and several of them have their own little stories and ties to the world or the main cast.
  • There are hunts. Hunts are NOT the only thing there is to do but they are there and not story heavy.
  • There are optional collectables. Not a big deal, do them or dont. Lets not pretend the original was above that. (1/34 Soldiers)
  • There is an Arena. Original had that too...
  • There is a combat simulator with rewarding boss fights. Some people already know what this is but the bosses are definitely cool and interesting.
  • There are battle objectives like people can see now with Chadley. Chadley himself is also a character that sheds a little light on Shinra and Hojo, he's not a notice board. People are claiming to want lore and character building but then ignoring the evidence that presents it.
  • There are some minor quests. Again, this is not the ONLY side content in the game, it's just a part of it. They also arent message boards, you go through NPCs, there's a personal reason behind these actions, even if they're simple. They're not big but they dont have to be. Not every single moment in the game has to be urgent or world saving. You're in the slums, no ones gonna ask you to kill god. How interesting you find them... thats up to you after seeing them, no one else. Watch Letsplays if you're on the fence.
  • There are extra tasks during story chapters, an example would be the little dances we went through in the original to get a better dress for Cloud. That's still there and has been expanded on a bit.
  • There's lots of minigames. Do them or don't, there's no gun to your head. Original had loads.
  • There is at least one extra dungeon that i've seen talked about, but pretty much every enemy infested area from the original Midgar is now a fully fledged dungeon with mini bosses, puzzles, cut scenes and banter. They are not copy paste caves ala FFXV. There's also new or expanded areas that arent forced or jarring, like when Cloud escorts Aerith home, that bits been fleshed out a little.
The sidequests aren't going to carry it but that's not a sidequests purpose. They will provide a variety of activities, lore, in-world political/social commentary and NPCs to talk to though. There's a variety of optional things for you to do each chapter and things change as you progress, preventing stuff from being static or repetitive. Remember a lot of the people here have been on a 5 year long smear campaign and will try to present their bias as facts. They don't know any more than you do.

I'm aware there won't be an extreme number of bosses, but from the footage we've seen they are all much more engaging and feel like actual boss fights. FFXV's bosses had good music, but the fights were hardly memorable because most were dead almost as soon as the fight started and none, except for the summon bosses and a few optional bosses, had any real spectacle to them or felt like anything more than a miniboss or just stronger-than-average foe. You just mashed a few buttons and they died.

FFVIIR's bosses on the other hand are much more lengthy and, more importantly, multi-phased, changing up tactics and making you take a different approach to continue fighting them. We've seen this with Scorpion Sentinel. So yes, even if the game only had 8 bosses or so, I would be satisfied because they're going to be engaging, memorable fights.

Only thing setting FF7 apart from other games was the production values and FF7R is absolutely killing it in that regard, yet again being the best looking JRPG for its time.

In regard to sidequests. The old games didn’t have enough sidequests. You got ultimate weapons, knights of the round, omnislash, all the cool materia and bam there was barely anything to use the stuff on because we didn’t have any of these “meaningless” side quests. While I don’t want a ton of lame side quests, I would rather have content than to be like the original FF7 that lets you gear your characters up to be totally badass and then you get basically no content to utilize all your awesome materia and gear on.

FF7 so called remake it is not on their own game. It is a mix of Witcher, Fallout 3 and other western games. They already did that with FFXV. Because of that it does not feel true FF.

FF7 Remake will flop, because angry true fans will not like it. After Warcraft 3 Reforge users bad reviews, FF7 Remake is next.
