I think given the increasing popularity of anime and its design choices (Yaiba and MHA seem to be picking up steam pretty quick) the more 'realistic' aesthetic FF7 has is probably not going to turn anyone off unless they're literally only interested in large manly men who look like refrigerators ala Gears of War.

True, but this is a little different. Anime generally does a better job of conveying odd/spikey hairstyles due to the artwork (original FFVII included).

FFVIIR seems to be a mix of realism and anime, and that's going to turn some people off.

Yeah, I guess I could see that.

The guys are really overestimating the cyberpunk genre, it's niche. Blade Runner flopped, Deus Ex flopped. 2077 can be different, it's being made by a prestigious studio and everyone loves the devs, but you never know.
Ironically FFVII is cyberpunk or at least has heavy cyberpunk elements

Not really. Have you seen the women in that game?

Honestly this will hurt Cyberpunk's sales more. While many are hyped for Cyberpunk it is still a new IP compared to FF7 which has had high fan demand for a remake for at least a decade. This game is one of the most hyped games out there. Plus FF7 is releasing first. Unless you can only afford one game then there isn't really a reason for anyone who would have gotten both to just skip getting FF7 now because you can still play it while you wait for Cyberpunk to release.

However, there will be many people that will hold off on getting Cyberpunk because they are still playing through FF7 and want to complete it first.

Doesn't matter if it's a new IP when people believe in the developer. Being a new IP didn't stop Bloodborne and Sekiro, for example.

For that matter, while not a new IP per se, most people had never heard of The Witcher before 3, so it was effectively one.

C2077 will probably sell more since jrpgs are overall less popular like always, BUT C2077 sales will be more affected 'cause FFVII's fanbase feels much more strongly about this game imo.

Honestly no it won't.
I don't think neither FF VII or Cyberpunk will suffer in sales though as both are two very different games and chances are folk will buy both.

No crap. FF8 released alongside several big games, which negatively impacted it's sales so hard, that people STILL think it's a bad game based on those numbers. FF7 released with ZERO competition, which is why it did so well. I guarantee you that it will end up in the same situation as FF8 did all those years ago.
