Just started the game this week after years of avoiding it due to the hate.

Here is my opinion because as I read the reviews after playing it I kind of agreed. I recently played through the trilogy again and I wondered how much people were really connected to the characters after the first game. By the time the third game came around we really knew the characters well. I think that feeling is what most people were expecting and I really didn't feel it either.

i think andromeda has the worst soundtrack of any recent bioware game. that's a good sign to expect a bad game. i mean, bioware always sets the bar when it comes to music, but andromeda's score is just bland.

I quite liked the music, especially the track that plays when you are examining the non-habitable worlds. It's kinda sad, though given that a number of the planets you inspect are hinted to have previously shown signs of life but are no longer viable (usually due to the Scourge), it fits.

I mainly just hated the writing. I tried to like the characters, but I simply found them flat compared to just Mass Effect 1. Garrus, Wrex, Liara... heck even Kaidan and Ashley had tons of character. Well maybe not Kaidan (ha ha) but at the very least he had a well-defined personality.

Andromeda felt like a cardboard version of the original, or perhaps a fanfic, and the bad guys were generic as hell. I play through the entire trology at least once a year because I love the franchise, but Andromeda felt like an unrewarding slog.

If you ask me what it's best aspect was then I'd say the ability to romance a Turian when playing a male character. Vetra was actually kind of a cool character and so was the Salarian pilot, but I cared little for the rest.

I admit the Kett didn't really do much for me, though I believe they can be saved. It's hinted in the game that the Archon's methods of trying to take over Andromeda aren't the normal way Kett do things, so when they come back they may pull out some whole new tricks.

Regardless, I think the Benefactor may prove to be the more interesting villain. I suspect they launched the Initiative into Andromeda for their own purposes, which may not have had a lot to do with the Reapers. I find it very suspicious that SAM can integrate with Jardaan technology and achieve things not even the people who live there can do.

This I agree with but Andromeda was a ton of fun for me at the time. I won't write it off completely and the graphics are still top notch amazing.

It more or less falls under the it would have been a good game had it not had the mass effect name and face problems. Sure other things are iffy in game but nothing to have garnered the hate it has being a mass effect game.

it's not a bad game, only not as good as the original trilogy
