Are Friede and Midir dlc bosses? Haven't played those yet but as for the main game, nothing even compares to the Nameless King. Probably the worst fight ever in this series, although it shares that spot with the final boss fight from the last dlc of DS2, for different reasons. This fight though is all about handling the camera, trying to keep him in your sights while he constantly flies above you, while moving around and dodging. The controls really aren't designed for that. And then trying to get a hit in here and there when you can barely ever reach him. Worst boss design ever.

That fight is what's kept me from finishing the game before simply because I got so annoyed by how bad it was that I didn't even feel like trying again. Something that no other boss has ever done, not even those 2 giant tigers from DS2. And when I now came back and finally beat him after a few tries it was only because some of the guys I summoned were using magic. Trying to fight him with melee is a nightmare.

Don’t lock on during phase 1 and you won’t have to deal with the camera whipping around. And don’t stand underneath the dragon when you’re attacking since it often makes the dragon block a lot of your view. You shouldn’t have too many bs camera moments so long as you position yourself appropriately and don’t lock on. Phase 1 can also go down extremely quickly provided you get decent RNG since the dragon is rather frail and staggers easily.

I actually fought him again yesterday and defeated after only 3 or 4 tries, one of which was me being summoned to help someone. Of course I only defeated him with help but I did so by staying under that giant chicken. You can't do s*** if you keep your distance, and you need to keep a lot of distance if you wanna even be able to see what that thing is doing due to its size. But hitting the legs does barely any damage. So yeah, that fight is still pure s***.

He's constantly flying outside of your view and throwing up lava, which you can only survive if you start running right away. Which means that you'll get hit once for at least 50% of your health, but you'll survive. If you start running too late you'll get hit twice by it and are done for. So the camera issues I was talking about don't come just from the lock on. It's just impossible to keep that thing in your sights due to the camera and the bosses giant size. But if you get far enough away from it so that it even fits on the screen, you're too far away to attack it in any way. Maybe sourcery might work, but thrown fireballs would pretty much always end up short. Not to mention that the boss is constantly flying around.

So when I made it with ease yesterday I had still used up around 6 Estus just on the first phase. And mainly because of that f***ing lava attack that you just can't escape. After that the second phase is a breeze in comparison because it becomes a normal fight.
