The first playthrough of this game is mostly enjoyable. The real problems start on playthrough 2 and 3 where you need to start using the equipment fusion system. I wont go into great detail because it's been discussed to death, but ToZ does a pretty damn poor job of explaining how it works in precise detail. Compound that with the fact that the whole system is pretty complex and unintuitive, and it's really easy to see why so many people dislike this game. The fusion system is really so unfun that it is enough to ruin the game for a lot of people.

Also, the AI in this game will make you want to pull your hair out. Enemies in this game do a lot more damage than in other Tales games, making blocking and dodging a lot more important, and your AI controlled allies make zero effort whatsoever to block or dodge attacks and will literally just stand right in front of a boss casting a long spell allowing the boss to 1 shot them.
