In challenge mode, sections from each of the six games are juxtaposed in quick succession, so you get the rare chance to compare the mechanics of the games which all vary slightly. Some think that Mega Man moves the same--aside from the slide--in every game, but when I play chunks of each game side by side, it becomes clear to me that Mega Man 4 has the best Mega Man. I have beefs with the Mega Mans in all of the games but 4.
MM1 - Mega Man slides a bit before coming to a complete stop and flies backward upon damage
MM2 - the jump feels too floaty and he still slides a bit before stopping, but not as much
MM3 - lag and dropped inputs
MM4 - no complaints
MM5 - same as MM4 except the Mega Buster doesn't always have a consistent charging time
MM6 - lots of lag and dropped inputs, and you have to press backward to jump out of a slide
