exactly how do they transmit power if they don't connect to any wires??
How many arms do I need to point with-Amara/borderlands 3

All Vault pieces connected to it carry power. But if you want to USE that power you have to go to Conduits and select the large white one and slap it onto a wall. it should just snap in place.

It radiates power quite further than normal conduits.

Yes, they can be damaged in attacks just like any other generator, so keep them high and protected.

Also, they can transmit power with wires (at least the smaller ones) if you want them somewhere that doesn't use the vault walls and conduits. I have 2 of the 150 power reactors on top of my NW RR gas station. Efficiency be damned! I think the lightning effect looks better than the plain boring domed super reactors. There's a little conduit connection sticking out of one of the 4 corners on their square base.
Stop trying to describe the glass as half full or half empty. It's simply twice as big as it needs to be.
