I should be just focusing on certain games, but I really wanted to play this game for some reason. Probably because I'd prefer to play through DQ11 again, but I have to keep on my Crit data, which I'm doing bit by bit, daily.

I've already done a Fisticuff's game on the original PS2. That was fun. Difficult as the beginning is super grindy. This one is the same, though I'll be more accurate. It's Fisticuffs and Magic, as Magic was definitely used the first time around. I did make some exceptions that I'll make here, Critical skills for metal hunting/leveling, and Stainless Steal Sickle for stealing.

Unlike my former playthrough, since I have a near perfect restart, I'm exploiting that, though it means deleting my low level game. Though this gives me a surprising advantage. Zap from the Sword of Erdrick, ALL-enemy Swoosh damage with the Woosh animation with the Bad Axe. The Candy Cane for the best usage of SSS (and so I don't have to keep a Skull Helmet). Early game goodies:

Healie T-shirt
- DEF: 18
- SELL: 100G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Heals 1 HP per 1 step

Metal Slime Platter
- DEF: 8
- SELL: 100G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Reduce Frizz/Sizz/Bang/Crack/Woosh damage by 5

Healie Hat
- DEF: 5
- SELL: 100G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: +5 Wisdom, +10 MP

Hearty Ring
- DEF: 1
- SELL: 100G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: +10 HP, +10 MP

Some super accessories superior to most in the game:

Fire Dragon Charm
- DEF: 5
- SELL: 15,000G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Negates Frizz and Fire (breath) damage

Light Dragon Charm
- DEF: 5
- SELL: 15,000G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Negates Sizz and Bang damage

Lucky Pendant
- DEF: 8
- SELL: 100G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Increases evasion chance by 1/8

Metal Slime Earrings
- DEF: 0
- SELL: 20,000G
- EQUIP: All
- SPECIAL: Reduces all damage by 25%

...and the Coup de Grace that the International version received, which allows me to avoid any random battle of my choosing, but I'm fairly certain Japan did not get through their daily item give away, which kind of sucks (which for them was also unfortunately one-time only for these special equipment options):

Gospel Ring : no normal enemy spawns (does not impact the special overworld enemies, bosses, or Notorious Monsters.

To top this off, 6x Double Bubbles, 1x Super Double Bubble (all of which I'll use in post-game only), 1x each Super Seed of Strength/Agility/Defense/Wisdom/Skill/Life/Magic (4~6, 10, and 6~8 respective boosts), 40x Strength, 15x Agility, 17x Defense, 13x Wisdom, 42x Skill, 12x Life, and 11x Magic seeds. 3x Gold Nugget, 3x Devil Tails, and between the other items I wish I had learned earlier I could have reset to change out for seeds instead...4x Medical Herb, 2x Special Medicine, 1x Rose-root, 7x Magic Water, 11x Eau de Monster, 1x Spicy Cheese, 1x Chilly Cheese, 1x Mild Cheese, 3x Hard Cheese, 5x Chunky Cheese, 3x Rock Salt...on top of roughly 30 days I didn't participate in daily sets, so I lost a potential 70 seeds. Though I could just setup a proper relay and use the photo sharing system to give my perfect restart save 999 of every seed and other items.

So I'm a bit ahead of the curve, and no, I'm not going to hold back on seeds for this one. I'm just not going to save scum for optimal stats, and I'm spreading them out, mostly on the hero, but spreading them out. Especially the Skill seeds.

I'd love to one day see a patch for this game with these items available, even if it is just a fan patch. Something at the start of the game that gives away the level capped items at certain levels or after certain points, and the non-capped stuff at the start, with the uber accessories requiring maybe certain quests. Make him/her a permanent fixture in Farebury after having slept overnight in the Inn after Trode dictates the party help Valentina.
This one is also kind of a boss rush, except that I'm also battling 30 of each enemy required to unlock the special monsters, each of the Notorious Monsters at least once, with a few exceptions if I want to create a team, but no more than 2 total battles, and the second battle can only be for recruiting (or in the case of Morrie, as I forgot about one of Morrie's initial monster finds, 3 potential battles).

I have to admit, going up against Khalamari at level 4 was a bit of a hassle.

Pickham at level's 11 and 12. Angelo is my highest leveled character, lol, for once. I should try a pure boss-rush only, with monster arena battles ONLY specific to the arena itself, no extra leveling, and no seeding until the end. Though I guess since I'd want to complete the photo quests, I'd still need to allow for 30 counts of certain enemies, but I could always wait until level 15 for Caraslime, 20 for the dolled-up mummy, 25 for the imp, 30 for the tree, 35, and 40 for the last two. That way the EXP gain is minimal and has little to no impact.

However I don't think I want that kind of a painful experience just yet. I'd rather have some challenge and potential deaths, to lots and lots of resets given lack of tool assist.

Playing the casino right now, aiming for 100~150k Tokens before moving onward. Bingo being my optimal starting point. Golden Slippers are the dumbest item I've ever seen. They're only useful early game. The gold accumulation isn't worth the time expenditure of reequipping in battle. About 200 gold between Peregrin Quay and Pickham. Woo, talk about rolling in it...

Time to get some DQ11 stuff in while this is going on.

Trap Box wasn't so bad. I stopped at 77,000 Tokens, though I should have purchased two Rune Staves, as Angelo died on the third round in a single hit with full health.

I was lucky he missed the Hero and Yangus early on, and Fuddle kept missing until the last round. I managed 4 Thin Air's at 50, 20, 50, and 50 tension, and one Crack at 50 tension. That did the trick. Onto the next bit.

Where did you get all those items, like the Candy Cane, Healie T-shirt and the rest? I've never seen any of them in game before.

Where did you get all those items, like the Candy Cane, Healie T-shirt and the rest? I've never seen any of them in game before.

The daily rewards when it was first released. Each item listed was the special "weekly" gift that was usually given out the first day that week a person logged in (there were a few exceptions as some people complained they could not get the special item).

I only managed to get the Candy Cane on the last day it was available.

After getting the daily special, any other daily logs that week would draw from a random selection of items from cheeses to healing to seeds.

They gave away 1x each of the Super Seeds as well, in between certain equipment, and at the very end, they gave away the Erdrick's Sword, which I don't think Japan received (they would have had to be lucky to get the Ye Olde Sword of Erdrick, and use a recipe that can only be done late game, to alchemize it into the Erdrick's Sword), then they gave away a Gospel Ring and closed it the next week. It's never opened since.

You can still get the same random items in between the specials through the photo share, which still works (easier if you use a relay system using local wifi, to have your system pinged constantly).

In anycase, when this was happening, most people were already well into the game. Given I had just received my copy (it came in 3 weeks late, and it took them 2 weeks to setup and get the server going), I had the vision a few people figured out, or had already setup in preparation: a save at the very start of the game with EVERY item, then only logged into the Farebury save. The funny thing, and cool thing, is that any check would give the items to each save. So if you had a save in slots 1 and 2, and a quicksave, all three would get the same item, as logging into one save would log into the server for the cart on a whole.

One of the other cool things about it, while it was available, is the random items could be forced. However it meant NOT saving in the sequence, but closing the game while still logged into the server, and before saving after the fact. It would just roll another item. I wish I had learned that early on, but it did take a long time (like 2~3 hours at times), just to get the desired one (pretty much seeds).

I just wish there were 3 slots (as I have my perfect save with near max stats in the Quicksave slot), but I did make a perfect restart save.

There are others who have figured out how to save hack them into their games with a CFWed 3DS, then finding the hex values for them, since they're on cart, just like with DQ9's DQVC.

For this reason I'm hoping someone releases a patch, even knowing it's a fan patch, that allows permanent access in any new game, to these items.

There are more as well:

I've never taken on the arena with such low levels.

Recruited -> Hackzilla , Salsa , and Brickman
Beat rank F
Recruited -> Capers and Hazel
Beat rank D
Recruited -> Potbelly

I'll probably have to give up Hazel and Brickman first. Hackzilla is awful right now, but will be infinitely better later on. Hazel is useful on occasion, and Potbelly is by far the strongest monster in the group at my Hero's level of 15.

Hmm, rethinking a few things. I'm going to have to spend a little more time with the monster arena anyhow. Just finding monsters with better starting stats, and using them to level up a bit, as I know without some assistance, Dhoulmagus is going to be a very difficult battle. I'm going to have to go out of my way with the Golden Slippers to get everything I need to handle that boss. I can probably take the Great Argon Lizard at 16, maybe 17, so a few extra Notorious Monster battles feels necessary. Doesn't help that only Yangus survived a few bouts, so he's a bit ahead, and everyone else is a bit behind.

Oops, I was wrong, I only beat Rank E, not D. Recruited Seasaw, and with him, Capers, and Potbelly, I beat rank D.

Next up is gathering all overworld items, battling as many Notorious Monsters that are left, and recruiting Spike and Bladewolf, as I'd rather those two, combined with Seasaw, to break through Rank C.

Hopefully I'll have the levels necessary to recruit a few others, and recruit Talos for Rank B at this point. Then see about Skeledoid. I wonder if I can get this done before hitting level 20...

Gospel Ring doesn't block the Sea Dragon battle, at least the first one. Interesting. I'm guessing because they probably used it in testing, so wanted to avoid that story block.

Also recruited Jockey, since he can double attack at a reasonable rate. Next up, collecting all items and battles in Argonia's region itself, then the road to Arcadia, then snag the mini medal in the Hunting Grounds, then finish up a few extra Dodgy Dave bits, then turn in for what should be two extra mini medal rewards, then I'm going to attempt Rank C. Almost forgot about turning in some photo quests, and completing what I can at the moment.

Maybe I should attempt Talos...I'm really not sure, I might want to try after the lizard boss battle, as my levels from getting the special tree to spawn just aren't that enough for me to feel confident. So far Jessica or Angelo gets OHKOed in a single hit from any reasonably difficult Notorious Monster battle. So time to rework my equipment, as I've mostly relied on found stuff, not much alchemy or shop purchases.
