A reimagining like RE2 remake appears to be...Well it has every right to exist, and we have every right to like it or not.

Still too soon to judge a game which is not released yet, right?

I know thus as someone who can happily watch old black and white movies.

I can still enjoy watching classic comedies like Charlie Chaplin!

There are too many remakes and reimaginations and reboots. Why can't they make anything new? Running low on ideas?

Maybe! The indie developers seem to be more creative sometimes!

remake re2, but really, was it necessary?

Yeah, I think it was. A RE 3 remake is also necessary.

Why not a new entry Or even a new franchise?

I'm not against it. I really want another Revelation. This series is fantastic.

With games, I can agree that remakes sometimes make sense. For example, RE Remake for GCN/Wii is apparently flawless, though I haven't tried it yet.
That sort of remake, where the soul if the game is not changed, and in fact it more closely resembles what the creators always wanted, but we're hampered by technology, is fine.

A reimagining like RE2 remake appears to be...Well it has every right to exist, and we have every right to like it or not.

Remaking movies however is almost always wrong. It takes very little imagination to put yourself into the frame of mind of an older audience at a different time to understand what the film maker wanted to achieve. I know thus as someone who can happily watch old black and white movies.

But here is the rub. There are too many remakes and reimaginations and reboots. Why can't they make anything new? Running low on ideas? Too risk averse? Probably the latter.

I know that is somewhat contrary to the spirit of this thread, although sequels that don't retcon previous games, are not the same thing as remakes etc. Weirdly enough in games, sequels are usually improvements, but in movies they are rarely better.

So yeah...fine. remake re2, but really, was it necessary? Why not a new entry Or even a new franchise?

But do not remake movies, especially classics. It's disrespectful to the creators, unless they are still alive and actually on board...ie in those circumstances where their vision was destroyed by the publishing studios, and they have a chance to set the record straight. That isn't that common though, and probably almost never the case when a film remake is planned. I mean...a sequel to Blade Runner was fine, but if they tried to remake the original, I would've lost it!

Agree completely. Growing tired of all the remasters, reboots, remakes, and reimaginings. In the film and video game industry. It seems humans want more of the same and it's never enough.

I am glad that they are around for those that want them, but I no longer support such endeavors. I no longer support DLC either. And microtransactions are for the birds. Commercialization has birthed an ugly side of the gaming industry. One ripe with greed and uncreative ideas.

Have you guys seen that tech demo that showcased what RE4 was supposed to look like but then it turned to devil may cry? They need to make that into a game

Didn't that have fixed camera angles, though? Looked cool to me, but apparently not everyone is down with the old school style.

There were a couple different versions. I'm not sure if we ever saw the DMC one (in its original form) I believe there was one with fixed cameras as well.

That is...wow...that is amazing. I had seen some snippets, but not the whole video. This makes me think of a combination of Project Zero, Silent Hill, and Clock Tower, with some proper RE to back it up. I loved the crazy haunted house type things, like the suits of armour attacking you, or the deer head falling off. The dolls were a nice touch as well. The hook guy was pretty amazing as well.

What a huge shame this wasn't developed into a full game. RE4 is great, but this looks like the sequel we should have received.

@darthcorpse
Yeah, I'm thankful RE4 was made though. They could have called it Resident Evil: The Village. Sure, only a third of the game takes place there, but Friday the 13th: Part VIII is called Jason Takes Manhattan; and all but the very end takes place on a boat!
