The first 2 Clock Tower games and the first 2 Echo Night games are some of my favorite games of all time. I love them for their stories as much as for their game play, atmosphere, and characters.
After playing the SFC and first PS Clock Tower games, the rest of the series (Ghost Head/The Struggle Within, CT3/4) were huge disappointments to me. I didn't bother with Night Cry because it didn't look like the true CT successor it was billed to be. I never played Haunting Ground, but I hope to some day.
I've never played Echo Night 3, but I really, really want to. Echo Night was a great game, but Echo Night 2 was a masterpiece. I picked it up a couple summers ago (an English translation patch is now available) and I couldn't put it down; I was absolutely enthralled by it: it was beautiful, it was detailed, its story was flawed but completely unique and engrossing, it had a heart to it. It was legitimately scary, too!
Another favorite horror right up there with CT and EN is Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness. I will never, ever understand the hate for it. I love its atmosphere, its characters, its story, and yes, even its game play. It's frustrating at points and it's imperfect, but no other CV has ever compared to it in my opinion.
I'm currently working on Eternal Darkness, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit for its story. What an original game!

I think my favorite series would have to be Fatal Frame.Other survival horror games failed to grab me like the FF games did.

In the case of Resident Evil, the atmosphere was never intimidating, except for certain boss fights or f*** me moments. Silent Hill had the issue of being inconsistent and having absolutely nothing happening for good portions of the games, just mindless running in some fog. First person games like Penumbra, Slender and stuff rely on jumpscares too much.

Fatal Frame II is still one of my top 5 games including all genres.
Not changing this sig until The Big Dawg Roman Reigns beats cancer and wins back the Universal Title. Belee Dat!

I'm not a fan of first-person either. And welcome to the horror board @HagenEx

Dead Rising if it counts. If not, I'ma have to go with Condemned: Criminal Origins. Fatal Frame 2 is a close second.

Don't think I have one since I don't play horror games often.
Hardcore - We'll probably be modded for this...

Yep. I actually don't do much gaming these days.

Oddly I find the drama on the boards more interesting than booting up a game....
