Hello.

It's mid-November and we are getting into the nitty-gritty of awards season AKA lots of good movies coming out season. I figure we better start our FYC campaigns, remind people about movies released earlier in the year, do some vimeo sharing, argue about which categories to place things, etc. Keep in mind that some foreign titles from last year are eligible for this year (Loveless, A Fantastic Woman, etc) since we are going by US theatrical release.

I'll start with a few questions:

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs had two of the vignettes inspired by other stories. So the whole movie has to go to Adapted, right?

The Other Side of the Wind... 2018 or nah?

Also please consider who you want to induct into the Quality Cinema Warrior Society, if anyone. Current members include:

I'd count it. Techically it wasn't finished and released until this year, wasn't it?

And yeah, thanks for reminding me on Loveless as I was trying to vote for it for categories last year.

And yeah, I suppose I'd put Buster Scruggs in adapted as well if some stories are from other works.

Pretty sure First Reformed, Paddington 2, and Mission: Impossible will be the only films on my ballot this year. Sorry guys.

The Other Side of the Wind is 2018, no question.

We also would have accepted, "Tell me what you think of me."

I will happily share some vimeo links if I have one for the requested movie. Just tag me and let me know the name of the movie and I will PM you

One question I had was whether Steve Buscemi is lead or supporting for The Death of Stalin. I currently have him in supporting, although that would mean the entire cast is supporting.

Movies that have not yet been mentioned that people may not have seen, but I'm seriously considering them in a given category:

-Beast for Best Picture, Best Actress (Jessie Buckley), Best Original Screenplay and Best Directorial Debut. It's currently on all major paid streaming services.
-Minding the Gap for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Documentary and Best Directorial Debut. It's exclusively on Hulu, so @BigLargeHuge may not have any legal way of viewing it, although @WallStreetWolf may be able to help here.
-Crime + Punishment for Best Documentary. It's also on Hulu, so same as above
-Night Comes on for Best Actress (Dominique Fishback) and Best Directorial Debut. It's streaming for free on Kanopy.
-The Guardians for Best Foreign Language Film (France) and Best Supporting Actress (Nathalie Baye). It's currently on all major paid streaming services
-Summer 1993 for Best Foreign Language Film (Spain). It's currently streaming for free on Kanopy.
-Western for Best Foreign Langauge Film (Germany/Romania). It's streaming for free if you have Amazon Prime.
-Mary and the Witch's Flower for Best Animated Film. It's currently streaming on Netflix.

I don't have anything for minding the gap yet but I would be shocked if we don't get a consideration link because it is incredible. If it's streamed on vimeo I will definitely share it
