Thunder God mode is TG Cid RM3. Definitely get him to lv99 during fest with those tickets. It is one of the top RMs.
To activate trance, yes, it is tricky, you have a few options:
1) lazy way. Equip Amarant RM3 which starts you with Last Stand. Then simply attack yourself or have a team mate do it early in battle. This is lazy and therefore not ideal as you forgo DPS for ease but it does have use.
2) bring a Last Stand SB to battle like Eiko USB, Raijin SSB, etc. Attack your trance user. Often this is still not quite as ideal as other methods as you may be forcing in a less optimal character just to get native Last Stand. I.e., slotting Eiko USB for Last Stand when you have the far superior Elarra USB to be your healer.
3) Trial and Error. You self attack, without Last Stand, finding some attack that deals just enough damage to set off trance without killing you. Having someone hit you with Lifesiphon is popular, or bringing a low level spell which won’t outright kill you like Fira. This takes time to find the sweet spot and only advised for a battle you plan to farm like magicite.
4) Trial and Error part 2. Almost all high end content has entirely scripted fights. No RNG. The boss does the exact same attacks at the same time, every fight. You exploit this by slotting trance user correctly and equipping the right gear so they can take the scripted attacks without dying and hit trance.
Wow instant cast theif with unlimited hones sounds crazy. So how would you trigger trance normally and consistently?
I wasn't familiar with Zidane relics/LMs... day 1 player and have maybe a SSB for him at best.
Regardless, you will definitely Gathering Storm in your collection. High priority RM after DMT/MM. While not ideal for Zidane apparently, you should be using it on other characters like healers, secondary DPS, etc.
As for how to trance, see above. The most effective ways are largely relegated to Magicite and Torment as those battles are entirely scripted, so you can eventually find an optimal way to trance without leaving anything to chance. If you are hoping to Trance on regular hard content (Ultimate, A++, etc) then the second two methods are probably better to save sanity and time....but honestly, now that you hold an AASB the weekly "hard" content should be a complete joke.
