Vigilante Banner Overview

Vigilante:
Remember when Lightning's USB was so popular for that big and fast DPS, and Luneth gets a clone of it later?
Ramza's new Ultra is an upgrade of that, getting a 4-hit chase in exchange for ATK buff.
Holy boosting sword, Knight 5 buff, LMRs in the same banner to support his DPS role.
Your Holy departmental store's DPS is premium quality too.

Save the Queen Divine/Jade Armlet:
Agrias' USB2 is personally the biggest prize here.
Holy DPS has all sorts of competition, but no one can Imperil Holy better than Agrias.
SB gives a guaranteed Imperil, 2 Knight abilities + LMR gives her LM2 up to 4 chances to proc Imperil, chase gives another guaranteed one after the 2nd ability, and the chase itself can proc for another.
Imperil is very important in Boundless, Torment 2.0 & 5* Magicites where the bosses are incredibly bulky and you can give them weakness to earn your team more SB points.

Guard Staff/Circlet:
Montblanc is sacrificed to be a debuffer...for nothing.
FFT is already a very powerful realm so event CMs won't need this.
Not to mention ST Hyper Break when FFT events are filled with muliple targets, and Mustadio SSB2 already exist.
Even worse, it's not even used in Torment Cuchulainn. Especially when some FFT Knights can bring ProShell.
First guinea pig for Torment, and it burned. LM2 potential is wasted.
But he could be useful as a general Dancer, and LMR supports that role.

Zeus Mace/Celebrant's Miter:
Most coveted defensive USB.
Magic attacks are always the deadliest and that RES buff is a godsend.
It has been MVP in all Purgatory+ MPs so far too.
Biggest survival tool for Torment Cuchulainn and it even applies to his deadliest attack.
All-round usefulness makes the chase for this worthwhile.
LMR provides Dualcast to make her even better.

Golden Staff/Mage's Staff:
BSB2 has the better opening heal and a safety blanket, BSB1 has the instant cure command.
BSB2 would still be better for Torment since the attacks are mostly AOE. But BSB1 is certainly better than nothing since healing is crucial.
Either way, USB is still the medica to chase for.

Kiyomori:
Value is worsened now that we have Gen 2 Chains & Hastega ability.
But at least Ramza has that awesome LMR & Support 5 access.
For Torment, better than nothing.

Excalibur:
Poverty Imperil is better than nothing, and it is still a huge benefit in Torment.
You can also juggle both USB & BSB to conserve hones if needed.
But besides that, there shouldn't be any foreseeable content that requires Holy urgently.

Firewheel Rod:
Faithga...for FFT. Lol.
More Gen 2 mage Chains are coming if you need buffs.

Platinum Armor/Brigandine:
Dualcast for USB2, and they kindly made it Holy not Knight so it works for BSB2's attack command as well.
Both LMRs are better than his native options, LMR1 is still awesome even if your Ramza is DPS.


Conclusion: Ovelia USB is the main prize if Torment 2.0 is not in your sights.
Otherwise this is filled with Cuchulainn goodies.
Don't forget that Dark Magicite is the last to come.

Burglar Sword Banner Overview

Burglar Sword/Bronze Helm:
Marche is one of the main pillars in D??? Torment Cuchulainn.
Against a boss that spams AOE, in a realm with no AOSB, and OSB owners have better SBs to spend bars on, you'll need this guy to rack up the party speed.
As usual, LMR is valuable for USB owners.

Nirvana:
Kinda help for Torment, but you are better off aiming for a Medica.
Slowga is used more than once and the boss spams Poison.
But Reraise is a valid strategy in Torment, relied on it a few times myself.

Gaia Gear/Venus Blade:
Earth boosting stat sticks.

Saintly Excalibur/Flame Shield:
Incentive for those who only have his USB to pull in this banner.
Quite a good one in fact, since that LMR loves to appear alongside his USB.

Linen Cuirass:
As a standalone, this can be your Torment buff if Ramza is going full DPS.
Together with USB, it's good to juggle them if you can afford it.

Staff of the Magi/Wizard's Rod:
Magic Blink helps in Torment since it works on the Bios and Dark Holy.
LMR is a good replacement for LM1 but not chase worthy nor something you should count on.

Save the Queen:
I still have not face a boss that requires me to stack the hell out of ATK debuffs yet.

Orlandeau's Cloak/Runeblade/Aegis Shield:
Ultimate duds of the banner.
Bad and old. Very bad.


Conclusion: An event designed to accompany the Torment. A banner meant to fill in the holes for those who lack tools to beat Cuchulainn.
Marche as main goal, Orlandeau for USB-only players, stat sticks from Meliadoul, and Alma for those who whiffed on Ovelia in the first banner.

Welcome aboard on this new banner format train that current JP is still riding on.

If you are following with JP ongoings, you will know that foresight is not as useful because…….there is nothing much to pull for.


Event banners are screwed towards Torment 2.0, relic content is cruelly design to entice the desperate to pull both banners.
Characters made an about turn just to be useful in Torment, some are experimental failures like Montblanc in this event.
Even when Torment 2.0 and a new 5* Magicite arrive on the same day, event banners will still 100% be devoted to Torment.

Take this event for example: New power creeped and Torment specific relics in B1, important old relics in B2, and Orlandeau's USB is absent.
JP don't have foresight and we can see DeNA swirling TGCid USB from a distance with a mocking grin.
Devs can argue all they want about designing Torment 2.0 to be a long term goal, but this is just artificial difficulty.


Next 2 fests are relatively terrible compared to what we have so far.
Upcoming fest is technically not bad, but it does not look good from an overall view or in retrospect. Banners feel like they are forced upon players, and the duds are mean.
Fest contents are bad too. Enjoy your Weapons while you can because nothing is going to beat them yet.


Developers stubbornly fill Banner 2s with only old relics, even when the realm is dire for new ones (FF2/3/etc), even when it is 12-relic format.

Banner 2's stigma of being inferior will worsen exponentially.
Some may not be bad, but B1 still contain those new power creep toys. Torment frustration traps are not helping too.


This is the period where JP lost the most players, there is an in-depth Japanese article that has the sales/data statistics to support this (may translate it when I have the time, it's interesting).
And they continue to lose veterans as more Torments & Magicites are added.

Artificial difficulty is one thing, these two being the only challenging content is another, but banners are the final nail to the coffin as they are not as fun to pull on.
Top heavy banners are always a norm. But the money grubbing intent is made even more glaringly obvious in event/fest banners to come.


And there is still the 14 vs 12 relic format you guys can look forward to.
