IDK. I think harassment should definitely be treated harshly and possibly even cracked down on more, even where users of a particular group might be considered harassed, but it's up to the administration to figure out if that's even possible.

Oh yes, definitely crack down on harassment. It's just miserable stupidity.

I agree harassment should NOT be tolerated here. I've seen so much of it.

A new guild pops up on the Pokémon boards, they get hit hard. Then their are users that severely target certain users. But the only way to report harassment is is by the one being targeted. Seriously, if someone sees harassment going they SHOULD bring it to the mods attention.

But that said the small box for other notes is not big enough to put multiple links. You'd have to go to a google doc or something and put all the links as evidence that harassment IS happening.

I would dare guess a few people who don't come back or close their accounts is DUE because of the harassment that they are being targeted.

But harassment should NEVER be allowed and I think the punishment should be instant purgatory. But banning out right does no good. As they can create a new account and have fun harassing the same people over and over.

I wish there was away to stop it but nothing appears to work besides being diligent about it. Marking the posts and hopefully they get caught.

Here's a closing thought. Stop using fad context (other people's offensive jokes) to twist other posts into offensive/flaming.

Recent example: user gets moderated for suggesting that Dan Schneider might be a mod, because all the topics about him were getting locked or deleted. That was upheld as a "veiled attempt" at insulting the mods: https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/573081-hellhole/75897430

Other ways to reduce trolling is for people to be able to spot the trolls more easily.

Says the guy with a profile showing a burning MAGA hat and links to multiple anti-Trump subreddits calling for his death. I can 100% guarantee that will never get touched because Notti is a 827366489 karma account, even though it’s a clear call for violence. I can also guarantee someone with a Hillary For Prison profile with links to “kill democrats” would get banned within 24 hours, as well it should. That is exactly the kind of punishment gap that should never exist, and a LOT of people in these topics have remarked about long time users will never get banned unless they suicide their accounts. Good. People need to ring that bell a lot more until karma stops being a meatshield.

Oh and letting users see IP addresses is such a laughably stupid idea that I wouldn’t know where to start explaining why. You want a web site with our history giving its users access to IP addresses? Are you high?

Oh, and an idea that’s long past due is if we block someone, can you PLEASE make it so the people we block can’t see our posts? On any social media site, if you block someone it’s like they never existed, which is great to stop stalking and harassment. GameFAQs is long overdue for this.

I don’t want to hear “but people can use alts”, either. Just make the ignore list limit bigger and let us block the alts, too. I’ve been dealing with stalkers and targeted harassment for 15 years and enough is enough. Give us the option to have a better user experience.

Wouldn't be able to prevent people who actively search for any way they can to cause trouble here without just flat out shutting down the website. People will find ways around anything and IP bans are not this end-all be-all solution people think they are. It's insanely easy to get around it. Some ISPs even as easy as just unplugging your equipment for 30 seconds.

Agreed. IP blocks do nothing, but those repeat offenders always get banned again anyway so it’s not a big deal honestly.

I just want the ability for ignore lists to actually block people who DON’T get banned but know how to skirt lines. Make it more like what twitter/reddit/facebook does please.

Here is the simple way to deal with repeat offenders:
Stop erasing mod history.
Lead mods have stated officially that the moderations do purge but as people, they remember certain users.
So, when a mod suspends the infamous troll for the 12th time and Allen decides "lol six month purg cause old account!", there is no punishment since a dozen alts.
It won't change a thing unless the administration bother to have more than a five second choice on things.

Most long time users clean it up though.
