Like just for the fun of it, to rile someone, to get back at someone or simply because you personally do not agree with something that was said? Particularly, when some user is not able to dispute a modderation, be it a permanent situation or a temporary one while someone is waiting for a final decision on a modderation appeal.

Because checks and balances are in place. One would lose their position if they were to abuse their position.

How would you know if the subject of the moderation had no means to appeal and you explicitly say that disputes are the only means to discuss moderations? Do you check moderations after the initial moderation to check if it was done right even without the user appealing?

Yes, there are ways to check on moderations even if a user didn't appeal it.

Right. Do you mean to say that first level moderations are just done by novice mods and that senior mods then check the moderations of novices, leads check senior mods and admin check lead mods? Difficult to believe because it would be too burdensome. But, if not, and even admitting that novice mods are under surveilance, what's to stop a senior or a lead, much less an admin from doing such things? After all, it is know that people which were banned for numerous reasons once got to become mods. Just curiosity, you know.

No, any moderator can handle first level deletions/disputes. If someone was just deleting something for the hell of it we would be able to figure it out rather quickly and take action on the moderator abusing their powers.

Also be aware that every activity of every moderator is logged for the administration to look at. Leads have further ability as well to also see actions in order to provide training to new mods and calibration for regular mods to try to keep us as close to the same page as possible.

Ok. I'll take your word for it that you have a system that allows you to keep even the higher ups in check (also, even if you hadn't you wouldn't tell because it would be bad reputation), though i am still grasping at straws to understand how exactly said system would allow you to identify misuse by at least administrators unless they wen't on a rampage of moderations instead of being subtle about it.

If admins went on a rampage, it would literally cost them their jobs. Like - their livelihoods. No admin is going to risk that just to disagree with someone.
