-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   II.  Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

The game MarioKart are installed on the Namco (R) arcade machines with cards
used to save the car, card name, titles, and items obtained along with the Cups
completed.

The game features 11 characters to choose from. The cars selectable are: Luigi,
Princess, Mario, Pac-man, Ms. Pac-man, Blinky, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser,
Wario, and Mushroom.

There is a set of 6 cards available. See the link below:--

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c65/0die/Setof6BlankCards.jpg

As for the game controls, there is:--

    1) the wheel, smaller than the Wangan wheel,
    2) a button in the middle of the wheel used to throw items,
    3) the accelerator, and
    4) the brake pedal.

But... NO GEAR STICKS!

Ok, so you just have to step on the gas pedal to accelerate and brake to slow
down but how do you drift? Just turn the wheel... and what is the brake used
for?

Jumping of course! In order to do a jump drift, just turn the wheel into the
corner and then tap the brake pedal. The car will jump up and then drift on
landing giving the character a protective shield during the drift and disappear
when the car comes out of the drift.

What do the coins do?

Well they are used for speed boost and collecting coins will increase your kart
speed. There is a limit on how many you can collect in order to reach the top
speed though. Get knocked by an opponent or crash will lose coins and thus a
speed drop.

Courses?

There are a total of 6 Cups to play for and each Cup has a total of 4 rounds.
Complete the 4 rounds and you get a bonus competition level which involves
knocking a melon over the finish line within 30 seconds, smacking down
tortoise, running in reverse, jumping over electrical wires, Defeat Bowser
platform and beating the robot kart to the finishing line.

Only when you complete the competition level do you get the CUP icon printed on
the card. If you fail the challenge then only R4 gets printed and you will need
to beat any one round again in order to rechallenge. This is required in order
to move onto the next Cup. Each time you complete certain levels, items will be
added to your collection.

After 6 Cups are done with, the game goes into the "second" story mode (just
like in Wangan, ID etc).

The second story mode is the same as the first but slightly more difficult.
Also the mini-game (aka competition level) has the time limit halved to 15
seconds for the Melon hit, 25 seconds for the turtle bashing etc.. Perfect
timing is key to beating this challenge. As usual more items are ready to be
picked up and saved onto your card.

The exciting stuff starts here... on the third story mode things gets heated up
a little. We're on the 150cc mode!! WAHEY!!!! The kart is now GOLD in colour
and the SP items are way more powerful than in previous story modes. You will
see a + in front of the items as an indication.

Since this is 150cc, the speeds are much higher than before and we will be able
to reach 195km/h (coins are required for this speed boost - max of 15). The
final set of items are on offer but it's not easy to obtain!!!

For a list of the items, check out the rest in this Items FAQ!

===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   IV.  Glitches
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

Apparently there are these known item glitches in the game:--

                0=============================================0
                | 1. Randomness in your new card |
                0=============================================0

The occurance of this glitch seems to be random. If you are in luck, you could
get a gold item in no time when you encounter this glitch.

Normally the basic card comes with a handful of items to get you started.
However, for about every 8-10 times a card is opened, there is a chance that
you are given a gold item right in the beginning.

               0===============================================0
               |       2. Failure to register a '+' item       |
               0===============================================0

The gold item, again, can be a random item, say for example, the Golden Banana.

The strange thing is that once you get to the 2nd round of story mode where all
the items you got turns into "+" items, as soon as you reach the stage where
the banana gets the + upgrade, it doesn't actually give you the "+" icon.

The result is in the next stage the game tries to give the + banana to you
again and keeps on failing to do so.

So after the 2nd story mode is done, some items that are supposed to have been
upgraded do not get done. You will end up with having to "+" upgrade via VS
battles to take the items from your opponents in order to get rid of this
annoying glitch.
