A Coleco ADAM computer version of Donkey Kong was showcased at the 1983 Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago, Illinois. Atari, who held a license with Nintendo, protested that this version violated the licensing agreement. Hiroshi Yamauchi demanded Arnold Greenberg, persident of Coleco, to shelve the ADAM port. This version was cartridge-based and therefore did not violate the licensing agreement, but Greenberg still complied.
