  • Inserting the disk into the Apple II computer upside down will still load the game, but the game will be upside down on the monitor. This was an intentional joke on Jordan Mechner's part, and when Broderbund Software took phone calls for tech support regarding this issue, they would simply say over the phone: "you put the disk in upside down."

  • Karateka is an early example of a game that can "prank" the player. After the final enemy has been defeated, if the player approaches the princess in "combat" mode, the princess will kick the player in the knee-cap, resulting in an instant death and a game over.
