Robo Defense is a game in which you build a wall of towers to slow down and hopefully stop your enemies from crossing the screen into your base. The Enemies in Robo Defense do not fight back, but only try to make it into your *hopefully* guarded base.
The Full version of Robo Defense offers only 5 maps in which you can play up to 10 difficulties on (until you complete and unlock more).
As you kill enemies, you get cash (buying in-game upgrades) and Points in which you can purchase Upgrades for all your towers from the title menu.
The controls for Robo Defense is very simple:
You just tap on the screen for everything you want.
- Drag new towers from the bottom right corner
- To upgrade a certain tower, tap the tower and select the upgrade you want.
- Drag your finger across the screen to scroll the map.
- To Pause or Fast-forward your game, use the indicated icons in the bottom left corner.
Robo Defense offers three types of starting towers in which you can buy and upgrade while in game. The in-game upgrades ARE separate from the upgrades in which you can purchase with your Reward Points.
The three towers with their respected upgrades are:
Machine Gun Towers are the Blue towers, whos starting cost is $5.
You can Upgrade the Machine Gun Tower to a "Medium" Tower for $4, and you can upgrade it once more to a "Heavy" Machine Gun Tower for $6 costing a total of $15.
Although this is merely a gun tower, this tower will still shoot aircrafts as well as ground units, and does not need to reload it will continually shoot.
The Machine Gun Tower (if chosen not to upgrade to Medium, or Heavy) can also provide an Antiair Cannon for $20 which ONLY shoots at aircrafts. This cannon can be upgraded to a "Heavy Antiair Cannon" for $40 - which is extremely helpful in the case that it shoots many bullets, extremely fast. The total cost of all the Tower and Upgrades would be $65
Lastly, the Machine Gun Tower can be turned into a Flamethrower for $70, and upgraded to an "Inferno" for an additional $50. The Flamethrower is a very handy weapon because the ground troops and vehicles will remain on fire (continuing to hurt them) for an extra given amount of time (other upgrades that are possible through Reward Points). The total cost of the Tower and Upgrades would be $125
Rocket Towers are the Yellow towers, who's starting cost is $20.
The Rocket Tower will shoot one rocket at a time, but has a much larger radius than the Machine Gun Tower. A good trick to use, would to set your first line with Machine Gun Towers, backed up by the Rocket Towers.
A Rocket Tower can be Upgraded to a Medium Tower for $30, which will shoot at the damage of two rockets, but will maintain the same attack radius. The last Rocket Tower Upgrade is the "Heavy" Rocket Tower which costs $50 but can shoot with the power of three missiles, and can produce a great amount of damage. Yet again, the attack radius doesn't change. The total cost for the Tower and Upgrades is $100.
If you choose not to upgrade to a Medium, or Heavy Tower you can purchase two other upgrades for this tower. You can purchase a Mortar, or a Surface to Air Missile.
The Mortar costs $50, but has an extremely large radius and the upgrade for the Mortar costs $90 (making this a total of $160) - however, the Mortal when upgraded (Artillery) causes much more damage and has a larger attack radius.
And the last option for the Rocket Tower, would be the Surface to Air Missile which costs $70 to purchase, and $90 to upgrade to an Advanced Surface to Air Missile. The Surface to Air Missile, as well as the upgrade both have a massive attack radius, however only attack aircrafts. The total cost for the Tower and Upgrades would be $180.
Slow Towers are a great asset to have, and as you progress in the game they will also provide to become a very valuable one as well. As you have probably guessed, the slow tower will slow down the enemies with every shot it takes.
The Slow Towers offer 2 upgrades, one being "Upgraded Slow Tower" costing $10 but doesn't actually show any statistical difference, but you can visually see they have slowed even further.
The last upgrade for the Slow Tower would be the "Advanced Slow Tower" costing $10, which is the only upgrade in the game that costs the same.
A fully upgraded Slow Tower will have a total cost of $30.
If you unlock the Mine Tower or the Teleport Tower, it will show up within the Slow Tower upgrades.
A Mine Tower is an extremely powerful explosive in which if ran over, will cause great damage to the enemy, and the surrounding enemies. Yes the Mine can kill up to several spaces away.
To purchase an Unarmed Mine it costs $20, and to Activate it costs $5. The total cost to use a Mine one time is $35. A Mine can be used more than once but can blow up other mines near it, so place them accordingly.
There are several different types of enemy troops and vehicles that will attack your base from the ground and from the air. This is a comprehensive list of all the Troops and Vehicles that will attack you, and their cash ($$) value. However, due to the game generating random waves of enemies, this list is not in order of appearance. However, I have noted where I have seen them at the earliest points in the game.
Infantry Troops - $1
Infantry Troops are very weak and moderately fast. These are the first units you will see in the game.
Bazooka Bot - $2
Bazooka Bots are very slow, and extremely weak. These are the second units you will see in the game, and as the game progresses these are great to feed off of for quick cash.
Robo Dog - $2
Robo Dog is extremely fast, but also very weak. Keep an eye on a stray dog towards the beginning of the game, because they can be at your base faster than you realize.
Jeep - $3
The Jeep/Humvee is fastest enemy on the ground, and can withhold a good amount of damage. These will cause the most harm to your base. In the higher levels, waves will start with slow vehicles and the Jeeps will come in after so be prepared with mines or Slow Towers.
Tank - $5
Tanks are extremely slow, but can withhold an extreme amount of damages. Don't be threatened by Tanks if you have Mines unlocked, they can be a great asset.
Steel Bot - $10
Steel Bots are the slowest enemy you will face in this game, but they are also the strongest enemies you will face. Be prepared to have a Steel Bot walk across to your base towards the end of the game if you don't plan to use heavy firew powwer.
There are two identical Helicopters, however they have different cash and strength values.
Helicopter 1 - $2
The first Helicopter is weak, with moderate-slow speed. This is the first Air unit you will see in the game, between levels 13-20.
Helicopter 2 - $8
This Helicopter is faster and stronger than the first, but is still only at a moderate speed and the second weakest air vehicle. You will see this Helicopter between rounds 40-50.
Jet - $10
The Jet is the fastest Air vehicle you will encounter, as well as your largest threat in the air. Make sure you create an airfield to handle these. I strongly suggest to focus on Surface to Air Missle's when Jets appear, because Jets will fly past Antiair Cannon's. This is the second Air vehicle you will encounter, between levels 30-40.
B52 Bomber - $20
The B52 Bomber is one of the strongest vehicles in the game, but their also very slow. Rarely ever do they come in waves of more than 4-5. Antiair Cannon's work extremely well against these.
Dropper - $30
The Dropper is the newest addition to the Attacking Enemies, it was added to the roster in June of 2010 which pretty much looks like a UFO. The Dropper is stronger than the B52, and is slower in comparision. However, after 10(ish) seconds of flight, if near an available trail/route an Infantry Troop will drop (single, never multiple in a drop). Droppers only appear on Difficulty Levels of 10 and higher.
Reward Points are the points you are given when you destroy enemies. As your bonus multiplier raises (by not allowing enemies into your base) you will gain more and more points. You can redeem your points by clicking the "Spend Reward Points" button on the title screen.
Unfortunately, your Reward Points do not roll over if you don't spend them. What I mean by this is if you still have extra points and you play a game, your old points will not be added.
With Robo Defense Full you can upgrade your Rewards to no limit (as far as I've seen yet, and I have upgraded each Reward over twenty times). Which is the only way to survive in the levels that are 30 or higher.
As of right now, I've only kept track of the first three Upgrade amounts for each reward, but you can upgrade your abilities passed Level 20 (what I've reached so far)

Unlock Mine Tower (500,000 Points) - Mines deal a large amount of damage when stepped on.
Uranium Shells (1,000,000 Points) - Fully-upgraded machine guns ignore armor.
Napalm Shells (1,000,000 Points) - Artillery rounds set units on fire.
Air Sniper (1,000,000 Points) - Upgraded antiair guns have double the range.
Cheap Fireworks (1,000,000 Points) - Upgraded antiair missles cost less.
Slow Burn (1,000,000 Points) - Upgraded fire towers also slow enemies.
Flea Market (1,000,000 Points) - More money for selling towers.
Scrambler (1,000,000 Points) - Teleported enemies are damaged.
Cannonball (1,000,000 Points) - Increased Mortar/Artillery Splash Damage.

Air Burst (1,000,000 Points) - Mines can also attack air units.
Shockwave (1,000,000 Points) - Mine chains cause slow and fire damage to all enemies.
Unlock Flare Tower (1,000,000 Points) - Flares deal slow and fire damage to passing enemies.
Achievements are in-game goals and obstacles in which to achieve throughout your time playing Robo Defense. There is a total of 57 Achievements in Robo Defense which will provide for hours of replayablility.
Some achivements can only be unlocked by playing a lot, so I've only noted the ones that can be achieved randomly. It's important to note that Achievements are easier to unlock once you have upgraded your abilities, so these tips are in assumtion of having at least a Level 5 or higher in upgrades.
Complete Any Map - Finish any map
Complete Difficulty 2 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 2 or more.
Complete Difficulty 5 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 5 or more.
Complete Difficulty 8 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 8 or more.
Complete Difficulty 11 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 11 or more.
Complete Difficulty 14 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 14 or more.
Complete Difficulty 17 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 17 or more.
Complete Difficulty 20 - Finish a map with the difficulty level set to 20 or more.
Perfect 25 - Get Level Bonus to 25
This Achievement is unlocked by not allowing your base to be penetrated for the first 25 levels. This can be done on any map.
Perfect 50 - Get Level Bonus to 50
This Achievement is unlocked by not allowing your base to be penetrated for the first 50 levels. This can be done on any map. I strongly suggest to have your abilities upgraded to level 5 or higher, and to play on a Difficulty Level of 1
Perfect 100 - Finish a map without losing any health.
This is easily obtained if you play Basic Level with a Difficulty Level of 1. Your abilities must be upgraded to at least 5.
Fast-Paced - Finish a map without creating any Slow Towers.
When attempting this Achievement, replace all Slow Tower locations with Machine Gun Towers. This will give you extra cash to spend on making your trail/route longer, since you can no longer slow down any troops you need this extra time. This achievement can not be received by deleting your Slow Towers before the game ends.
Rocketman - Finish a map without creating any Gun Towers.
This Achievement is trickier in the fact Gun Towers are a great and quick start with little cash. You'll want your Starting Cash ability increased to be at level 6 or higher to give you a total of $50+ to start. In doing this you can create one Slow Tower to start, and two Rocket Towers to defend. You can not receive this achievement if you delete your Gun Towers before the game ends.
Gunner - Finish a map without creating any Rocket Towers.
With the removal of Rocket Towers, it's imperative to continually keep your enemies moving in a "zig zag" pattern. Or "S" pattern. Purchase Gun Towers in waves of 3-4 to make your route longer and continually damage the enemy. After every purchase of a new wave of Gun Towers, upgrade the previous towers to their fullest potential. You can not receive this achievement if you delete your Rocket Towers before the game ends.
Cheapskate - Finish a map without upgrading any towers.
This achievement can be tedious and difficult if you're abilities are not upgraded to at least a level 7-8. When Air attacks happen you will want to upgrade to Antiair Cannon or Surface to Air Missile...DON'T. That counts as an upgrade, even though it's changing the form completely. If you need defense againt the air, use Rocket Towers. Deleting an accidentally upgraded tower WILL NOT help, you will have to start over.
Big Spender - Finish a map with all towers fully-upgraded.
This achievement is easiest to acheive when you're playing on higher difficulties because you have more enemies allowing for a higher cash value. I suggest attempting this achievement when your've unlocked a difficulty level of 20, and play on 10. By the time Difficulty Level 20 is unlocked, you will be strong enough (ability upgrades) as well as experienced enough to conserve and spend your cash wisely.
25K Club - Defeat 25,000 enemies.
Big Score - Score 1,000,000 lifetime points.
Huge Score - Score 50,000,000 lifetime points.
Experienced - Finish 1000 Levels
Powered Up - Finish a map with 12 or fewer Towers.
This Achievement can be completed by having your abilities upgraded to Level 10, and playing Basic Level on a Difficulty Level of 1. (Two Slow Towers in the front of the opening, both followed by two Rocket Towers(6 total) Add 3 more Rocket Towers in the form of an backwards L connecting the bottom of the two parrall lines. This will cause the flow of traffic to continually be hit with towers, no pauses. This will give you 3 additional spots for Towers of your choosing in the locations of your choice. I find having at least one Surface to Air Missile is helpful, during the later rounds. You can not receive this achievement by deleting your Towers before the game ends.
No Sale - Finish a map without selling a tower.
This achievement requires you to pick your spots precisely, and watch your fingers! Moving too fast to attempt to upgrade can cause you to accidentaly sell a tower. If you accidentally put a tower in the wrong place, it's not the end of the world, upgrade it and work around it. This is one of the easier achievements to unlock at any difficulty level.
Fast-Lane - Finish at least 75 levels with fast-forward turned on during a game.
This achievement was fun and boring all in the same. It's best to go for this achievement once you achieved the ability upgrades to levels 10 or higher, so you can create several towers and defensive positions during the first 15 levels(and have them be strong), to be ready for the oncoming levels. It's essential to create your defensive routes first, and upgrade while fast forwarding. I suggest 15 levels to allow for a few non-fast forwarded level plays so you can recooperate, or replenish your defensive lines.
Addict - Finish 5,000 Levels
75K Club - Defeat 75,000 enemies.
Risk Taker - Finish a map with 1 health remaining.
This achievement can be accomplished early on in the game before you completely upgrade your abilities. Suggested to attempt this on a Difficulty Level of 1, to ensure the ability to dominate if need be(you don't want to mess up and die on level 99). When nearing the end of the game (levels 90-100) allow for 1-3 units to scurry through to your base each level(depending on your current health). If you're strong enough, you can control how many enter and how many are destroyed by selling your towers.
Solid Effort - Finish a map with at least 18 health.
As with the Risk Taker achievement, you can control the amount of troops let into your base. This achievement is usually one of the first to be accomplished.
Rainy Day - Collect $1,000 during a game.
You can earn this achievement by selling old and un-used towers before the game ends.
Big Saver - Collect $2,500 during a game.
You can earn this achievement by selling old and un-used towers before the game ends, I also strongly suggest (depending on what enemies level 100 will include) to sell all expensive towers (Mortars, Surface to Air Missiles)
Crazy Saver - Collect $5,000 during a game.
The only way to accomidate this amount of cash and to survive the levels is to have your Abilities Upgraded to level 15 or higher and to play on a Difficulty Level of 30 or higher. This is because with a harder difficulty, brings more enemies which in return brings more troops. And the higher your abilities are upgraded, the less amount of towers you'll need to buy, to survive. Once upgraded to this state you can use the previously stated methods of selling unused towers and expensive towers towards the end as well as choosing to purchase powerful towers, rather than effective ones. Yes a Slow Tower is effective, but a Rocket Tower is deadly.
Big One - Earn 500+ points from a single enemy.
This can be accomplished on a B52 once your Slow Towers are upgraded to Level 5 or higher. Slow Towers are essential for this because the longer the B52 is slowed down, the more you can rack up your points (hits) from the towers surrounding it. Antiair Cannons are a Gold Mine for this achievement.
Whopper - Earn 1,000+ points from a single enemy.
As stated above, you'll need the B52 in order to accomplish this, however a difficulty Level of 20 or higher is required to allow the B52 to have more health, to endure more damage as the points add up.
Good Game - Earn 250,000+ points during a game.
Great Game - Earn 500,000+ points during a game.
Play any map on a Difficulty Level of 30 or higher.
Amazing Game - Earn 1,000,000+ points during a game.
Play any map on a Difficulty Level of 50 or higher

Basic 25 - Finish the Basic Level 25 times.
Basic Level 40 - Finish the Basic Level at difficulty level 40.

The Factory level 40 - Finish The Factory at difficulty level 40.
30/30 - Finish a game with difficulty level of 30 or higher, and with your health remaining at 30 or higher.
By now, you'll have to have your Starting Health bonus at a level of 11 or higher. I strongly suggest to tackle this Achievement once you have a Starting Health Bonus of level 20, and to play on Basic Level.

There aren't too many questions to be asked about Robo Defense but there are some common questions that have been asked:
Q: Do my Points stack, or build up?
A: Yes! They will build up so you can save for a higher upgrade!
Q: Will my Upgrades and Achievements transfer over if I upgrade?
A: Yes! All your Achievements, Upgrades, and Points will transfer over.
Q: If I upgrade my Towers, does that upgrade their attack radius?
A: No, the attack radius shown is what it will always be. However, there are a few upgrades that this does not count for and they are; Mortar > , Surface to Air Missile > Advanced Surface to Air Missile.
