Zelda 101
Items
Deku Stick | The Deku Stick is both a deadly weapon and a helpful tool. As a weapon, it deals more damage than the Kokiri Sword, and as a tool, it's great for carrying around fire from torch-to-torch. | Deku Nut | The Deku Nut appears harmless, but stuns enemies upon contact, leaving them vulnerable to Link's attacks. |
Fairy Slingshot | The Fairy Slingshot is a basic yet deadly tool from Inside the Deku Tree that can fling Deku Seeds at high speeds and over long distances to hit enemies and other targets. | Bomb Bag | First obtained in Dodongo's Cavern, the Bomb Bag allows Link to carry explosives. Not very safe... |
Boomerang | The Boomerang, the dungeon item found Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, allows Link to obtain items from high or hard-to-reach places, as well as hit targets on a curved trajectory. | Bombchu | Later on, Link can also obtain Bombchus, a type of bomb that travels in a straight line and even up walls until it hits a target and detonates. |
Din's Fire | A spell that can be obtained from the Great Fairy hiding in the castle grounds, Din's Fire uses up some of Link's magic to produce a deadly ball of flames that surround him, setting fire to anything flammable it touches. | ![]() Farore's Wind | This spell, granted to Link from the Great Fairy in Zora's Fountain, allows him to set a warp point to a specific room in any dungeon, and return to it at a whim when he needs to. |
Hookshot | The Hookshot is a unique tool obtained in the Graveyard that allows Adult Link to retrieve far-off objects, and more importantly, grapple onto certain surfaces, including wood as well as special targets, to reach places and cross pits he otherwise wouldn't be able to. | Fairy Bow | The Fairy Bow, found in the depths of the Forest Temple, allows Link to shoot arrows to hit switches and deal killer damage to enemies. Later on, Link can obtain upgrades to his arrows, including Fire, Ice and Light Arrows, that use up some of his magic for showier bullets (that have their practical uses too). |
Magic Beans | Obtainable from the Magic Bean seller in Zora's River, Magic Beans can be planted in soft soil spots scattered throughout Hyrule, and they will, over time, grow into large enough plants that can fly and take Link to new places. | Megaton Hammer | The ancient tool sealed in the Fire Temple, the Megaton Hammer is a mighty piece of cratfsmanship that can serve as both a weapon and a utility to Link, including pounding rusted switches as well as smacking away large pillars to clear the path forward. |
Lens of Truth | The Lens of Truth is a mystical piece of eyeware that can be found in the Bottom of the Well in Kakariko Village. It allows its wearer to see beyond illusions such as fake walls. | Nayru's Love | Nayru's Love is a spell gifted to Link by the Great Fairy of the Desert Colossus, and allows him temporary invincibility in exchange for some magic. |
Iron Boots | The Iron Boots are a pair of incredibly heavy boots found inside the Ice Cavern that allows Link to immediately sink when stepping inside any body of water, and makes him incredibly stable. I don't, however, see how putting them away makes Link any lighter. | Hover Boots | The Hover Boots are the dungeon item of the Shadow Temple, and in exchange for a loss of traction, give Link the ability of flight for just a few seconds when walking off a ledge. |
Fairy Ocarina | The Fairy Ocarina is a gift from Saria when you first leave Kokiri Village. It lets Link play special songs to do various things. | Ocarina of Time | The Ocarina of Time is the eponymous item in this game, and it is handed to Link by Princess Zelda as she escapes the castle. It allows Link to play the Song of Time, among many other songs, and open the Gate of Time in the Temple of Time. |
