2nd Stratum

8F - A Beast Born to Fight

Before arriving at this floor, you need a Forest Berries to clear one of the events in this area. If you don't have it, hopefully you can find Dale at BAR who sells a set of Forest Berries for a certain price. I think this is the only place to get the item. Fortunately the merchants at BAR are cycled after entering the labyrinth, so you only need to land on 1F and then immediately return to the town in order to come across different merchant.

Remember, the difficulty can be changed anytime when you're in town.

I'll assume that you've met Syrik, harvested a few Forest Wheats, and found an impassable crevice during your previous short journey. That huge elephant, called Primordiphant, emits purple marks on the map. Now you have to progress deeper while avoiding this creature, which can move 2 squares for every step you make. However, if it turns, it requires 3 movements before being able to move forward again, so you have to use the surroundings in order to escape from the beast.

Open the door and hug the left wall to find one-way crevice. Don't enter it, but keep hugging the left wall until you find a door to the next zone which has a fishing point. Return to previous zone and head straight to the north to find another door, then head north to trigger an event. This event requires someone who has learned Animal Care to be cleared. Simply choose the first option to obtain 3-5 Milks as reward.

Return to previous area, and keep hugging the left wall until you find another door, then head north to trigger another event. This event requires someone who has learned Hunting Skill to be cleared. Simply choose the first option to obtain 3-5 Meats as reward.

After finding a wild bird, you used your Hunting Skills to successfully obtain its meat for cooking.

Return to previous area, push the east stone pillar to the south, and then approach Primordiphant. Now make a round trip by moving clockwise, push the other stone pillar to the north, keep going east to the place where Primordiphant was waiting for you before, and then head south to successfully escape from it. At this point you can report the result, but it's better if you wait until the whole floor is fully explored while training your characters.

Follow the way to another door in the south, touch the crevice on your right side to open the shortcut, then come back and head east to open another door. Head straight to find another door to the next zone where an FOE, Impeding Tengu, shows up on the field. Similar to Owl Beast, it always chases you and doesn't follow a certain movement pattern, but it can also push the stone pillar, dealing huge damage to your party members if you are below stone pillar's falling position, which occupy 2 squares forward when it falls. Therefore you need to avoid both stone pillar and the FOE.

Immediately go straight to the east to open another door, follow the way to open the north door, then head north to meet with Forest Hen again. Give it another Forest Fish, keep hugging the right wall to find another door, hug the left wall to pass through a crevice, keep hugging the left wall to find a mining point with Razor Stone, Dolomite, and Rose Quartz, head back and go north to find an impassable crevice, and then head west to trigger another event which requires Therian's Brute Strength to be cleared.

Boulder Blues

Happening upon a troubled adventurer, you used your physical strength to get them out of a bind.

Head back and go through a crevice, head north to find a door, and then head 2 squares north and step back 1 square south to watch the FOE push the stone pillar to the south. Backtrack and hug the right wall, don't push the southeast stone pillar, but push the north stone pillar to the north. Keep hugging the right wall until you find a chest with Toxic Knuckle, and then keep going clockwise until you finally open the north door. This weapon may only have low attack points, but now your Pugilist may inflict poison with each attack, especially if you want to obtain Popping Gel's additional loot.

Now head east to open another door where another FOE shows up on the field. Head 3 squares north, then 1 square west, and then come back to push to stone pillar, hitting and stunning the FOE until you get out from this floor. Push the east stone pillar, open a chest with 1000 en, head northwest to open another door, and then head straight to open a door to the next zone.

There are 3 FOEs on the field. Keep heading straight to the west to find a door but don't open it. This door leads to an empty room at this point. Head 3 squares south and 2 squares east to push the stone pillar to the east, then keep hugging the right wall to open the door, and open 2 chests with Gorgon Arrow, and Unihorn. Head back and go straight to the north, then go straight to the east to return to previous zone, hug the right wall to find a mining point with Razor Stone, Dolomite, and Rose Quartz, and then keep hugging the right wall until you find a crevice on your left side. Open the shortcut, then come back and follow the way to trigger another event. This event can be cleared by default, but the best result can only be triggered if you have a Forest Berries, and hopefully you still have one. Choose the first option, then, if you have a Forest Berries, choose the first option again to obtain Celestial Silver as reward, otherwise you are forced to resume your adventure without giving Forest Berries.

The Squirrel Incident

After spotting something shining in a cave, you peacefully moved a squirrel blocking your way and obtained a silver coin.

Now simply hug the right wall to find the upstairs to 9F. However, there are some requests that need to be done. You also need to report the mission's result, so it's better if you return to the town. Head back to Council Hall, and then Ramus gives you Honey Yogurt and Special Pouch, enabling you to make another dish at the campfire. After reporting the result, the Council gives 3500 en as reward.

Interlude

As usual, there are some new requests. However, if you had accepted the requests when you came back to Council Hall to accept the mission, all of these requests could be cleared without doing additional exploration.

Fight Poison with Poison

"My guildmate got poisoned by a giant scorpion! We need its venom for the antidote... Help us!"

You have to obtain Scorpion Venom by approaching Glaring Stinger, the FOE in 6F, without alerting it, and then extracting its venom using Painless Syringe, obtained after accepting this request. Fortunately you don't need to fight the FOE.

Dressed for Success

"I need help finding material for a wedding gown. Won't you lend a hand, [insert your guild name]?

Thadius is coming back, and now he needs Silk String, obtained from the nest of Toxipede in 2F. Your 2F map also will be marked with a red border. Once you've arrived in 2F, a Toxipede is seen nearby, moving toward its nest. Simply follow it to the nest at C5 only to find that you're being ambushed by another 3 Toxipedes. Now you have to defeat 4 Toxipedes in order to collect the necessary item. You are now much stronger than your previous encounter, so you should be able to defeat them without facing any trouble. This battle nets 5760 EXP and 4 Metal Pincers. Afterward, head 1 square west and examine the nest to obtain Silk String.

Remember that there is a healing spot nearby, so you may want to use it after the battle.

Guards vs. Guilds

The Guard Corps has sent you a challenge. Head to 8F of the labyrinth to accept it.

Reward: Copper Ingot


Simply climb the upstairs to 8F to meet the guard who sent the challenge before. He explains that the guardsmen want to compare how many enemies you can slay on this floor. In order to obtain the best reward, you need to defeat at least 15 enemies. The game nicely tells your kill counts, and after defeating more than 15 enemies, the guard will give up. Select any choice to give the encouragement when it happens.

The minimum reward is Copper Ingot and 12500 EXP (Advanced) / 15000 EXP (Basic). However, if you manage to defeat 15 enemies, the reward is increased so you'll get 2 Copper Ingots and 17500 EXP (Advanced) / 21000 EXP (Basic).

Now select PATRON to see some new faces. The first one in the list is Thadius who provides further information about the second request. The rest of the patrons just inform some tips which may be useful during your adventure. If you accept those 3 requests, land on 2F to clear the second request, return to the city and land on 6F to clear the first request, then climb to 8F to clear the first request. Now return to the town to save your progress, then climb the upstairs to 9F. Don't rest at Inn since your TP will be restored very soon.
