6th Stratum

6th Stratum Boss and Epilogue

Before fighting the boss, if you always play on Basic difficulty until this point, now you have to switch to Advanced difficulty. The final achievement in the Guild Card can only be obtained if you defeat the boss on Advanced.

You are facing the hardest boss in this game and without getting any help from any guest party member. All the best equipment should be unlocked at this point, so you may need to grind your party levels a little bit and also upgrade their equipment as high as possible. Also bring the best healing items you have (Medica IV, Soma Prime, Hamao Prime, Amrita II, Nectar II), buff items like Bravant, dispel items like Laudanum, and a few Gas items to inflict ailments. Nothing to lose here.

Star Devourer enters the battle with all parts are summoned. It performs Full Burst on its first turn, killing the entire party members if unprepared. Afterward, it'll regenerate its body parts one by one. The order of the regenerated body parts are Agile Sword, Sound Cannon, Rocket Engine, Towering Sword, Energy Tube, Bomb Chamber. Each part can act individually and has its own set of moves. Sound Cannon can inflict debuffs and dispel your buffs, Energy Tube can heal and cast buffs, Agile Sword can temporary nullify physical damage and also perform physical attacks, Towering Sword can perform wide-party physical attacks, Bomb Chamber can temporary nullify elemental damage and also perform elemental attacks, and Rocket Engine can remove all ailments and debuffs, give buffs, and perform wide-party elemental attacks. When all parts are summoned and don't suffer from any ailments or binds, the boss will perform Full Burst again which repeats the cycle. If the boss takes significant amount of damage, it'll regenerate additional part outside of its turn. While on low health, the boss doesn't follow the order anymore and will regenerate random body parts instead.

There are 2 ways to fight this boss. First, you can use Aegis Shield Union Skill to nullify Full Burst's damage, then you can defeat each summoned body parts while also dealing the damage to the boss. This strategy will leave your party members without Union Skill for a while, but you can deal with each part one by one. Second, you can try your chance to inflict ailments or binds on your first turn. Full Burst has somewhat low speed modifier, so your party members are likely to act first before the boss activates it. Try to inflict ailments or binds, either by skills or items, and Full Burst will fail. However, you'll fight against all parts on your next turn. This boss and all of its body parts also have quite high resistance to ailments and binds, so you may need a few retries until it succeeds.

I don't think there are parts that have higher priority to be destroyed because it depends on the situation. Agile Sword's Parry may be one of the annoying thing here as it negates your turn and gives free turn to regenerate another body part. Sound Cannon can dispel your buff, mitigating your damage output, and Energy Tube can heal the boss for about 9k health. However, if you focus on these parts, you'll be wiped out by wide-party attacks from the other parts. Basically, just defeat every part with the lowest HP as fast as possible, and land ailments or binds in order to temporarily hinder their assault. Star Devourer doesn't have any attack move, so it'll be helpless if you can lock down all of its body parts.

Defeating this boss nets around 2.1 million EXP (Advanced) / 2.5 million EXP (Basic) and Worldeater Core, and, if you manage to defeat it on Advanced difficulty, you'll unlock Star Devourer Slain achievement in the Guild Card.

Enjoy the credits once again (skip if you want) and then save the game to mark it as completed. There is still a little bit left to be done in the game.

Load your cleared game save, head into Council Hall, and then register the boss and its loot. If you've registered all monsters, you'll get 3 Formaldehydes as reward, and if you have registered all items, you'll get 3 Gold Ingots as reward, and, by clearing all maps, monsters, and items, you'll get Crown of Arcania as reward. Watch the credits (or skip it) again, and then save the cleared game one more time.

This is my Guild Card stats at this point.
