6th Stratum

4th Stratum Superboss

Song of the Snake Woman

"This request's for the [insert your guild name]. Please come listen to what I have to say."

Reward: 350000 en

This request only appears if you have cleared Breaking the Barriers request which can only be cleared after reaching 29F. Mirina explains about a vicious monster called Lamia which attacks adventurers when exploring in 4th Stratum. She also gives you Special Pickaxe, the crafted item from Therian Miner before, and also waits for you near the entrance on 19F.

Before heading into the labyrinth, you may want to bring someone who can inflict Head Bind. Head Binder item may be general solution, as well as Celestrian's Chain Blast, but some other skills can be used depending on your party. Head Bind will be required to obtain the boss' additional loot, but you can bring Formaldehyde if you don't want any trouble in obtaining it. You also need to bring a few Therica As, as the boss can easily bind your characters. Bring a few Therica Bs as a backup.

Land on 19F and head toward the exclamation mark on the west. Mirina shows up here and then offers to join your party members. Accept it, and then break through the shortcut thanks to the Special Pickaxe.

This place is filled with many one-way shortcuts, so follow the path carefully. Head west and then north to go through a shortcut at D3, move east and go through a shortcut at D4, move west to be teleported to D2, move north to be teleported to B2, move counterclockwise to be teleported to B1, head east to go through a shortcut at B2, head 4 squares south to go through a shortcut at B1, move 2 squares west to go through a shortcut to C1, and then open the chest with Bind Charm in this area. Now go through the shortcut in the south, head east to find another shortcut at C2, move south to be teleported to F2, and then head east until you find another shortcut which takes you back to the entrance.

Now follow the path again until you arrive at B2, but instead of going south, head southeast this time to find a crystal which teleports your party members to D2. Move west and then south all the way to go through a shortcut at E2, then follow the way, ignore the crystal for now, and keep heading east to open a shortcut at F3.

Thanks to this two-way shortcut at F3, if you somehow have to restart from the entrance of this floor, you can quickly go back to this place by taking the shortcut at E3 and then go here.

Now simply head west and then north to be teleported to D2, move south to be teleported to D1, and then head south to open the door and fight the boss.

If this is your first time dealing with the boss, you have the option to bring Mirina as the sixth party member. She is a Necromancer - Spirit Broker but she lacks one of Spirit Broker's important moves: Zombie Powder. Has she mastered this move, those Bind Snakes can easily be killed and then sacrificed with Fair Trade to deal ~5,000 damage per snake. This strategy can only be used if you have another Spirit Broker with mastered Zombie Powder.

Her strategy revolves around binding. Basically she will try to bind your party members as many as she can, then performs her ultimate move, Squeeze Grip, which its damage is increased from how many binds your party members have. In doing so, she can cast Alluring Body which mitigates your party members' bind resistance, and also can summon a few Bind Snakes on the field every few turns. Those Bind Snakes don't have attack move but can inflict Head, Arm, or Leg Bind, and, if there are at least 3 Bind Snakes, they can attempt to fully bind your party members. Bind Snake is weak to all physicals and elements, but Lamia will protect them by casting Serpent's Curse which may deal multiple party damages based on how many Bind Snakes that are attacked on that turn. While on low health, she can perform Death's Embrace, which may instakill or inflict fully bind to one of your characters. Her other moves may cause Petrification, Panic, or Poison, but it's not the main threat here.

Now for the strategies. When one of your party members have at least 2 binds, use Therica As immediately. When she summons a few Bind Snakes, try to defeat all of them but make sure to deal damage as high as possible, as Serpent's Curse may kill your party members if it's triggered multiple times. On your free turn, try to inflict arm bind to stop her from summoning Bind Snakes, then you can try to bind the rest of the body parts. Unfortunately Lamia has high resistance to all binds so it'll be quite hard to do. Mirina can perform Wraith Cry to land debuff, Sacrifice - Gates of Hell combo to summon high HP Wraith, then Fair Trade to deal damage or Fierce Shield to absorb damage. She can also perform Chain Blast to fully bind all enemies, especially if some Bind Snakes are summoned on the field. What makes this battle hard is when you are trying to bind her arms and land ailments like Panic, Petrification, or Sleep. Afterward, the battle goes downhill from there.

If you manage to defeat it while her head is bound, you'll also obtain Snakebraid Snarl as reward. She has quite high resistance to head bind, but this condition is pretty much manageable rather than the previous 2 superbosses. However, if you want to obtain it easily, just use Formaldehyde on the turn when you can finish her off. After the battle you'll also unlock the third level cap, so now you can reach level 99, the maximum level in the game.
