2nd Stratum

2nd Stratum Boss and Epilogue

Before fighting the boss you need some preparations. This boss is weak to lightning. If you bring a Fencer, raise their Chain Shock. If you bring a Pugilist, raise their Thunder Fist as well as their Overexertion. If you bring a Warlock, raise their Lightning, then Amplifier / Focus Chant. If you bring a Shaman, raise their Bolt Prayer if you want.

The second aspect is, this boss has quite somewhat average resistance to status ailments and binds. Usually bosses have higher resistance or even immune to ailments / binds, but this boss only has normal resistance. If you bring a Harbinger, upgrade their Paralyzing Reap if you want. If you bring Rover/Shaman/Botanist, equip Gorgon Arrow, obtained in 8F, to be able to use Gorgon Shot which may petrify the boss. If you bring Fencer/Shaman/Harbinger, equip Petra Flyssa, obtained by clearing For Your Health request above, to be able to inflict petrify as well. If you bring a Celestrian, learn their Chain Blast Union Skill. Or else you can bring a few Stun Gas or Petrify Gas. Stun Gas can be bought for each Brown Wing, dropped by Stun Cicada at this stratum, and Petrify Gas can be bought for each Heavy Ferrule, dropped by Myconid in 2F or 3F.

10F - The Master of the Skies (continue)

Once you've arrived at 10F, Solor and Lili will approach you, informing about the Hippogryph. Now go through a shortcut in the east, then open the previously-blocked door to the next area, and head 4 squares north to fight the boss.

Hippogryph always opens the battle with Panic Glare which may disable one of your party members. Afterward it performs either normal attack, Back Kick, or Bind Claw. Once its total HP reaches about 70%, 50%, and 35%, it'll perform Sky Dive which deals severe damage to the entire party, then activates Wing Shield to reduce all taken damages. While in this stance, it can perform Rest which heals 500 HP for 3 turns. However, if you manage to deal 500 damage during these turns, it'll end prematurely. Once its HP reaches 50%, it starts to perform Lightning Storm, which deals moderate damage but also may inflict paralyze.

Your first objective is to land any status ailments so that it can't cause more trouble. Harbinger's Paralyzing Reap, Gorgon Arrow's Gorgon Shot, and someone equipped with Petra Flyssa are very useful. However, before its HP reaches 70%, activate Celestrian's Chain Blast Union Skill to bind its head and arms so that it can't perform Sky Dive and Rest. If you successfully paralyze or petrify the boss, cast buffs and then launch your lightning attacks. When it recovers from any status ailments and you can't activate Chain Blast, perform DEFEND in order to survive its Sky Dive, then quickly deal 500 damage to cancel its Rest. Repeat this method until you finally defeat it.

In order to obtain its additional loot, Transient Pick, you have to defeat this boss on your first turn, which is impossible at your current strength. All stratum bosses are able to be fought again later after completing the game, at which point your characters will be much stronger than your first encounter, so you don't need to worry about the additional loot for now.

Now just complete your map and climb the stairs to the 3nd Stratum, then head east to find a Geomagnetic Pole to return to the town. Head into Council Hall to report the result, and Ramus gives 6000 en as reward for unlocking the 3rd Stratum. Master Titles are unlocked at Explorers Guild as well.

Interlude

Head into Explorers Guild, and now you can assign Legendary Titles into your characters, but the characters must have more than 20 levels. Once you've upgraded the character, you can't revert it back to their default class unless you decide to rest them. Personally, I upgraded 4 of my characters and left the other one on their base class. I wanted to test out whether their Master Titles really give them the advantages or not. Before leaving this place, Egar gives 5 Book of Masteries and orders you to talk to old Celestrian Scholar at BAR, so do as he says. Talk to Celestrian Scholar, who then tells that you can raise your level 19 or less character instantly to level 20. However, you only have 5 items to do it. Personally, I didn't use these items and saved them for later use.

Since you've landed your foot on 11F, you may want to accept all of the unlocked requests. However, I'll mention them in the bottom of the 11F section for easier reading.
