Harvest Moon 3D: The Lost Valley is the first Harvest Moon title internally developed by Natsume, the long-time Western publishers of the series. For many years prior to TLV's release, Harvest Moon games were developed and published in Japan as Bokujou Monogatari (lit. "Ranch Story"). This changed when Marvelous AQL, the current holder of the Bokujou Monogatari IP, began publishing the games themselves as the Story of Seasons series. Left with the Harvest Moon trademark, Natsume decided to use their many years of experience to develop their own farming series under the same name. These games are designed to be reminiscent of older Harvest Moon titles while also striving to innovate in creative new ways.

The Harvest Goddess Needs Your Help!
Your main character sets out one fateful Spring day to find the titular lost valley, rumored to be resplendent beyond compare. Whilst climbing the mountain, a sudden snowstorm springs up, and he or she loses their way. Lured by a mysterious voice calling to them in the raging blizzard, he or she stumbles onto a small abandoned cabin and spends the night there. Even though seasons come and go normally in nearby Hillsville, this deserted wasteland mysteriously remains forever frozen in the grip of Winter. Once upon a time, it was a bountiful place full of people and life. What brought this lush valley to ruin? Why did the other three seasons vanish? Moved by a dream of the Harvest Goddess pleading for help, your farmer embarks on a quest to revive the lost valley.

Patch 1.01 released!
Natsume recently released a patch for TLV which addresses freezing issues and other bugs along with a few balance changes:

  • Bug fixes: Freezing, the dig glitch, dog glitches fixed; beneficial bridge glitch not fixed.
  • Improved Harvest Sprites: Sprites now have more dialogue, gain chemistry faster and from being spoken to, and do much more work.
  • Improved Watering Can: The watering can now holds enough water for 200 tiles, up from 50.
  • Minor undocumented tweaks to the code: Small changes have been made here and there to enhance the overall experience.
